Position: Pantry Director
Department: Rich Township Pantry Department
Reports to: Administrator
Rich Township is one of 30 townships in Cook County, Illinois and serves 10 municipalities including: Country Club Hills, Flossmoor, Hazel Crest, Homewood, Matteson, Olympia Fields, Park Forest, Richton Park, Tinley Park, and University Park.
Under the leadership of the Township Administrator, the Pantry Director is responsible for all aspects of procurement, maintaining inventory control, writing and filing reports, developing and maintaining working relationships with residents and vendors, as well as handling the distribution, and storage of food. The Pantry Director recruits, hires, trains and coaches and counsels both staff and volunteers.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the everyday operations of the Pantry.
- Creates the budget for the food pantry.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Food Pantry.
- Tracks and monitors food donations.
- Maintain financial viability of the Pantry by looking into grant opportunities and soliciting contributions.
- Develop fundraising goals and implement at least two fundraisers per year.
- Handle new client in-take and recertifications following the guideline set by Greater Chicago Food Depository (GCFD).
- Recruit, hire, train and develop Pantry employees, volunteers, work study students and service-learning students.
- Create donor reports as needed.
- Attend Township meetings.
- Work with other departments to ensure residents’ needs are being met.
- Develop a strategic plan that includes an outreach program for new donors and sponsors.
- Attend training sessions required by Greater Chicago Food Depository (GCFD)
- Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:
- Valid Serve Safe Certification.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Valid driver’s license and insurance required.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry a minimum of 25 lbs.
Experience:
- Previous experience in logistics and operations management.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the food pantry or food services industry.
- Previous experience with organizing fund raisers and working with donors.
- Experience working in a warehouse handling food.
Education:
- Associate degree in related discipline or a minimum of 5+ years in the food service industry
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to motivate, lead and coach team members.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing situations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel Publisher, and PowerPoint required.
Salary: Commensurate with experience.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
