Job Title: Assembler/Electrician

Reports To: Assembly Supervisor
FLSA Status: Hourly – nonexempt

SUMMARY: Ability to assemble control panels and related products ensuring a safe quality product is delivered to the customer on time.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assemble company products at standard rate
- Follow written work instructions and complete required quality documents
- Accurately post transactions using shop floor data collection devices
- Interpret mechanical drawings to assemble company products
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues
- Build control panels from panel layout drawings and electrical schematics
- Cut and fit conduit and other industrial wire ways
- Interpret electrical schematics as required to wire company products
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with electrical circuits
- Setup/operate digital test equipment including data loggers
- Use own tools to assist in process of assembling equipment as needed
- Some travel may be required
VALUE ADDED RESPONSIBILIITES include the following, however, not required:
- Interpret schematics in order to assemble hydraulic/pneumatic/fuel gas systems
- Mentor entry level assemblers
- Lead assembly team on large projects
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Able to pass pre-employment math test
- Ability to proficiently use measuring equipment preferred
- Ability to read mechanical drawings with no assistance preferred
- Understanding of dimensional tolerance preferred
- Ability to read a tape measure within 1/16”
- Preferred knowledge of power transmission components and best practice for assembly
- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) preferred
- Valid Drivers’ License, good driving record, preferred
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
- 3 years’ experience in mechanical equipment assembly preferred
- Industrial Electricity or Controls education preferred (apprenticeship, degree, military)
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Must have basic reading and writing skills.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Algebra, Geometry, Percentages
- Conversions (example: watts to kilowatts)
- Calculate loads
- Calculate air flow in CFM
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Basic data entry skills including how to print documents
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and peripheral vision. Will work with High Voltage electrical equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the non-air conditioned work environment is moderate. All required PPE, including steel toe shoes, must be worn and a clean work environment must be maintained.
