POSITION TITLE: Pacer Clinic Tech II

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Director of Interventional Services or designee, the Pacer Clinic tech performs pacemaker checks and programming of devices, according to industry standards and reports their findings/changes to the Cardiologists in a timely and professional manner.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Schedules, reschedules, and cancels patient appointments every day, to keep in line with Medicare guidelines.
• Demonstrate strong customer service and telephone skills while dealing with patients, referring physicians, and hospital staff.
• Perform device checks and reprogramming, according to industry standards, while demonstrating clinical competency and compassion.
• Must be able to work as a team and adapt to a constantly changing environment.
• Data entry into clinic database and scan appropriate documents into the medical record system.
• Document information, including for remote transmissions, correctly in the Pt medical record, in a timely fashion, accurately, while meeting the physicians specific report requirements, to include device function.
• Utilize sound skills and judgement to appropriately triage patients in clinic by phone, and in person.
• Have the ability to carry out assigned duties, in the time allotted, while utilizing overtime only when necessary.
• Continually educate on new technology related to device implants, monitoring, programming and interventions.
• Initiate supply orders, and stocking supplies for the department.
• Clean and maintain equipment, and initiate repairs when needed.
• Educate patients and families regarding device function, clinic follow up, scheduling, and home monitoring.
• Ensures correct billing and coding of device checks.
• Complete wound checks post new device implants, and report to physician with any concerns.
• Produce a sufficient amount of quality work, while adequately communicating with management and physicians.
• Interpret pacemaker report data and relay pertinent information to ordering physician.
• Program all device types pre/post-surgery and MRI procedures.
• Program all devices and analyze leads during new implants, in the Cath Lab, and assist physician in optimal lead/ device placement.
• Perform cardioversion through devices under supervision of physician.
• Maintain device advisories and recalls, within manufacturer’s recommendations.
