Georgia- Pacific has an immediate opening for an OSB Operations Capability Developer. This role leads development, implementation and maintenance of a sustainable documented learning and qualification system for Operations and Craft technicians. Focus will include improving the onboarding experience as well as establishing effective progression tools to better enable Team Hosford members to Self-Actualize.

This may include coordination of all training activities with shift and area support team’s necessary to meet and exceed plant objectives associated with EHS, Product Quality, Manufacturing Reliability and Efficiency while ensuring alignment with management philosophy, and Principle Based Management (PBM®). This role reports to the Plant Manager, will primarily work a weekday/dayshift schedule on site, with compensation based appropriately on experience.

The Hosford facility is located about 27 miles west of Tallahassee, the Capitol of Florida, and a short drive to beautiful gulf coast beaches! Looking for nearby outdoor activities? Hosford is close to Lake Talquin Reservoir, the land of fishing, hunting and water sports- located on the Ochlocknee River between Leon County and Gadsden County!

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Provide leadership and coaching to support continuous Learning and Development (L&D).
  • Coach SMEs on increased ownership of learning content development for their area.
  • Lead and foster an environment that develops principled based owners where our learners feel willing & able to contribute to learning opportunity improvement.
  • Work with SMEs, leadership, and learners to validate content currency & effectiveness.
  • Partner with support functions (Safety, HR, Enviro) seeking training integration opportunities.
  • Oversee Team Mentorship program; train and coach Team Mentors as needed.
  • Develop your personal L&D network to improve cross-sharing of ideas and techniques; seek out emerging technology that may help accelerate learning, working toward content standardization to promote cross-facility sharing of resources.
  • Identify, schedule, and facilitate external training as needed to improve training and close knowledge gaps in the facility.
  • Lead, coach and mentor frontline leaders to effectively develop their new employees.
  • Be the leader in advancing individual capability through strategic coaching and creative training materials and procedures.
  • Lead development and implementation of performance, skills, and qualifications capability. Also address performance gaps for technicians against individual capability and performance measurements across the work platform
  • Serve as Operator Route platform site admin; drive area specialist ownership of routes
  • Provide support with facility operations as needed.

The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements:

  • Strong and broad understanding of OSB operational processes, roles and responsibilities or ability to develop such in a timely manner.
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule that may include occasional off-hour call responsibilities as necessary to support plant performance.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience leading/holding others accountable in a working environment to assess, support and improve performance gaps against individual skills.
  • Experience with the editing or creation of, and understanding the usage of standard operating procedures (SOP’s) that will be used and referenced in the learning system
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite, LMS, MP2, and Parsable.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Five (5) or more years of experience in an OSB Plant in an Operator, Craft or Leader role.
  • Two (2) or more years supervisory experience at a GP OSB Plant in operations, maintenance, reliability, engineering, or other relevant support group experience in a manufacturing environment leading, influencing and developing people.
  • Experience developing and compiling operational material, courses, and/or evaluation processes that increase individual and team capabilities.
  • Experience developing and executing training plans and/or key improvement initiatives.
  • Experience leading a training organization in an industrial environment
  • Experience evaluating individual performance, working with individuals to improve team performance
  • Experience with Immersive Learning tools such as Matterport, Captivate, Articulate, and others as well as SumTotal Learning Management System.
