Oracle Business Analyst Job at RSM Solutions Inc
Thank you for taking time to stop by and take a look at the BA role I have posted on LinkedIN. If you have read my job descriptions before, welcome back. If you are new to my job descriptions, welcome to the party.
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Tom Welke. I am Partner & Vp at RSM Solutions Inc and I have been recruiting technical talent for over 20 years (it was 20 in January) and been in the tech sector since the 1990s. Due to this, I am going to be far more focused on 'fit' than anything else...a fit for you and a fit for the client. I also like to add some humor to job descriptions as well (life is too short not to have some humor), so if you see something that makes you chuckle, that was the intent.
Almost all the roles I work on have a social fit component as well as a technical skill component. This role is no different. So, you might ask 'so, Tom, what creates a social fit here?'. Well, I am glad you asked. Here are the some of those characteristics:
- It is not uncommon to find individuals who have worked at this firm for 10 years or more. So, this is an environment that really seeks long term players...people who really want to stick around for the long run.
- As most BA's know, sometimes you have to think of solutions that are unconventional. So, if you have thought of unique ways to solve specific business problems, that is spot on with what we are seeking. So, a good word for this is 'creativity in solutioneering' (how's that for a Harvard word, hey?).
- This is an environment with limited drama, limited ego and limited micro-management. Some people look at that and say 'wooohooo...sounds great!'. However, this means that we are seeking someone that doesn't need to be micro-managed (you know, the kind of person that puts their big boy or big girl pants on and gets their stuff done) and doesn't have an ego the size of Montana.
This role is permanent, fully benefitted and fully remote. I can only work with US Citizens or Green Card Holders and we are really only looking for candidates that are located in the US Central Time Zone or the US East Coast Time Zone. If you are located in Dallas, Cleveland, or Jasper (Indiana) that would be ideal.
Here is what we are seeking: We are seeking a solid Oracle BA that is very experienced in the wonderful and oh so fascinating world of Finance (if you have 7-10 years of experience, that would be right on target with what we are seeking). That enchanting world of Fixed Assets, Cash Management, GL, AP & AR are those nifty things we are seeking in this role. This is not a technical role...rather it is functional one (about 80% functional and maybe 20% technical). These guys use the Oracle 'methodology' to BA and PM work...so, experience with BR 100's, MD 50's would be great to see in your background. This will be an internal customer facing role where you will connect and build relationships with those key internal stakeholders (primarily with those warm and cuddly Finance folks). So, speaking in 'their language' will be important to success in this role. If you have worked on Oracle (EBS / R12) implementations...especially financial module implementations, that would be spot on with regard to what we are seeking. You will be creating functional and technical specifications with a bigger focus on the functional side. Their are technical developers that will be able to do the heavy lifting in terms of converting those functional specs to technical specifications. You will then help bring those financial department dreams into a reality by following the SDLC to completion.
The team size for this group encompasses 2 other functional people (that cover other parts of the firm outside of finance), and 2 full time developers (along with 6-8 offshore contractors).
Here are some of the main responsibilities (I wont drag this out with a zillion gotta haves...if you are anything like me, you chuckle when you see those laundry lists. Primarily because that zillion bullet point person just does not exist):
- Be that core SME for the finance modules within Oracle EBS (R12). This includes being that 'go to person' for all requirements coming from the finance group directly related to Oracle. They are moving to Oracle Cloud, so if you have some Oracle Cloud experience, that would be great to see.
- Lead that requirements gathering, documentation, process flow diagramming and so on in the BA process for that fascinating world of Finance.
- Work with various technical teams to develop and implement financial solutions within Oracle EBS Version 12.1.3 with an 80/20 split of functional/technical expertise. The technical expertise required is integration design and understanding of table structures
- Coordinate with 3rd party vendors on application support issues, defects, and enhancements
Here is what we are seeking:
- 5-10 years of BA experience with specific focus on Oracle.
- Experience understanding the business process in Finance and an undertanding of EPM cloud would be great to see.
- 2 or more years of implementation experience of EBS or Oracle Cloud (with a focus on Financial modules).
- A strong grasp of Oracle Application Architecture
- Experience designing complex system solutions within finance
