Under the supervision of the Chief of Anesthesiology, Anesthesiologists, and the Director of Surgical Services, help coordinate and manage the services provided by Anesthesia Technologists (Anesthesia Techs); and properly prepare for and support all designated procedures.

Safe, Quality Patient Care Requirements:
- Manage and coordinate the day-to-day operations for Anesthesia Technologists to meet the expectations and goals of the organization.
- Contribute to the daily management and supervision of Anesthesia Technologists, including annual evaluations, corrective action, and payroll.
- Maintain the master work schedule for the Anesthesia Technologist team.
- Proactively resolve operational issues, including effectively and appropriately escalating matters, as needed.
- Will collaborate with the Director and managers for patient issues and help resolve issues effectively and appropriately.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to develop best practice and quality patient care.
- Work in all areas of surgery to support all aspects of anesthesia care, including pre and post-surgical procedures.
- Confront difficult or conflict situations constructively and seeks appropriate assistance.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, organizational, and departmental policies and procedures.
- Actively participate in ongoing quality and process improvement.
- Maintain and protect patient confidentiality.
Procedural and Operational Requirements:
- Maintain current competencies for designated patient care tasks.
- Properly sets up area for patient care, including proper setup and usage of equipment and supplies.
- Perform routine maintenance of anesthesia equipment.
- Ensure a patient care plan has been established regarding all patient medication, including collaborating with appointed staff to act in accordance with all policies and procedures.
- Coordinate patient care and monitoring equipment availability with PACU and Critical Care units.
- Manage work assignments to ensure completion of patient care activities i.e.; keep assigned rooms stocked, clean and ready for our next patient; Works with perioperative team to facilitate a prompt room turnover.
- Consider budget while maintaining sufficient stock, and reviews for outdates, supplies and non-scheduled drugs in the anesthesia workroom, machines, carts and auxiliary anesthetizing locations.
- Maintain inventory of disposable and non-disposable equipment, including all supplies and initiate replacement using established vendors.
- Maintain and document equipment maintenance and repair plans. Coordinate with Biomedical Engineering and/or supporting companies regarding maintenance service plans and repairs and ensure adequate back-up of equipment at all times.
- Participate with the assessment of current and future learning needs of staff and the development and implementation of an annual education plan.

Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Satisfies one of the following requirements:
- Completion of an ASATT certification eligible Anesthesia Tech program;
- Completion of a Paramedic program (may be evidenced by current, active national or Arizona Paramedic certification;
- 3+ years of comparable patient care experience in anesthesia and/or emergency services
Licensure/Certification: BLS, ACLS and PALS through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an Anesthesia Technologist in an acute care and/or emergency services.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Keyboarding skills: must be able to use designated computer software applications.
- Able to demonstrate knowledge and skill in the anesthesia equipment, including proper quality assurance, storage, and troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of Anesthesia department procedures, principals of asepsis and sterile technique.
- Utilizes effective communication strategies, which result in intended outcomes while meeting KHI vision and mission.
- Demonstrates ability to proactively lead staff compliant with KHI vision, mission, and values.

Education: Advanced degree in related field.
Licensure/Certification:
- ASATT certification as an Anesthesia Technologist.
- National or Arizona state certification as a Paramedic.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of leadership experience in an acute healthcare setting and/or emergency services.

- Able to demonstrate manual dexterity and mechanical ability.
- Must be able to stand or walk continuously.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and be able to assist with patient transfers using designated resources.
