OR Anesthesia Tech, PRN Job at Methodist Hospital for Surgery
This position will coordinate and manage activities as related to anesthesia department. Maintains anesthesia machines and equipment. Sets up operating rooms with required anesthesia and physiologic monitoring equipment in preparation for anesthesia in surgical and obstetric suites. Removes and cleans equipment at the end of procedures (if possible) and restocks anesthesia supplies for subsequent use.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum high school diploma required
- Current BLS certification required
- Prior knowledge of anesthesia equipment preferred
Essential Functions
- Coordinates the needs of anesthesia
- Assists with technical aspects of getting patients ready for general or regional anesthesia
- Assists anesthesia clinicians with intravenous and intra-arterial and other monitoring catheters
- Verifies functioning and proper layout of equipment and disposable products
- Orders, stocks, and sets up anesthesia equipment in all OR’s on a daily basis and between each case
- Cleans and sterilizes all anesthesia equipment when necessary
- Coordinates activities for maintaining anesthesia equipment
- Assist in maintaining equipment repair logs and develops in equipment database
- Develops, implements, and evaluates new procedures and techniques
- Demonstrates cost-effectiveness in use/purchase of supplies/equipment
- Meets with vendors
- Performs all other duties as assigned
