With the expansions of our renewable energy sites, ENGIE North America is looking to hire an Operations Technical Trainer to develop and conduct technical training programs for both wind turbine and solar industry technicians. This position will not only educate and standardize training materials but participate in the quality control programs and ensure all technicians are evaluated and scored based on their technical abilities. Reporting to the Director of Field Services, this position is located at the Five Wells Solar site in Rogers, TX, however, the trainer will travel to various sites as a subject matter expert.


  • Candidate must reside within an hour of the site – (i.e. Temple, Lott, Cameron, Morgan Point Resort, Salado, Fort Hood, Gause, Golinda, Lorena, Coupland, Serenada, Calvert, Hutto, Woodway, Hearne, Pflugerville, Riesel, Briggs, Windemere, Fort Gates, Wells Branch, Bertram, Paige, Camp Swift, China Spring, Elm Mott, Gholson, Volente)

What you’ll do:

  • Develop, conduct, monitor, test and score technical training programs for all internal wind turbine and solar industry technicians based on their technical abilities
  • Establish relationships with internal customers to develop course materials and measure feedback
  • Coordinate training schedule with Division Managers for the hiring and training demands of the company
  • Select and/or develop teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials and reference works
  • Conduct training sessions covering various specified areas including on-the-job training, refresher training
  • Test trainees to measure progress and to evaluate the effectiveness of training
  • Travel and perform on-the-job training on various platforms of Mega Watt (MW) class wind turbines and MW class invertors
  • Develop reporting on the progress of employees under guidance during training periods
  • Report to senior management on training performance and provide recommendations on process improvements in work environments and training procedures
  • Own all aspects of classroom instruction including preparation, consumables re-order, inspections and logging of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and devices
  • Carries out other duties as assigned

What you bring:

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum seven (7) years of progressive experience in the renewable energy (wind/solar) industry or a combination of degree, education, industry experience or military service will be considered
  • Proven history of teaching, setting and developing wind turbine and / or solar technician-related curricula and maintaining training materials on prudent industry best practices for the solar and / or wind industry
  • Previous experience training theory in the areas of electrical safety, qualified electrical work, convertor/invertor, hydraulic and mechanical
  • Ability to engage with all students in the classroom, understanding the core elements of adult learners
  • Capable to be flexible and meet the changing needs of a dynamic, growing company
  • Capable of directing and defining new training programs based on the needs of the company and industry
  • A novice in developing critical analysis and an ability to instrument, measure and improve processes and training programs
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational and execution skills with a keen knowledge of project and program management skills
  • Capable of working independently and assertively to manage tasks outside the normal job scope
  • Demonstrates a positive, collaborative attitude toward internal and external customers.
  • Capable of up to 50% travel domestically to various job sites often schedule or with little advance notice.
  • For this position, you must have evidence of right to work in the U.S. There is no employer sponsorship of U.S. residency or work authorization with this role

Additional Information/Conditions:

  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record (will they drive a company or personal car)
  • Must be willing and able to comply with ENGIE’s policy with respect to COVID vaccination and testing as well as willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions and noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • Capable to meet highest attendance requirements and communicate effectively, both written and verbally to provide
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy while using a company-issued computers an other devices
  • Knowledge of proper procedures involve for lifting with safety equipment if necessary
  • Required to be certified and physically able to climb a wind turbine.

  • Salary Range: $79,305 - 202,540, annually
  • Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
  • In addition to salary, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan
