Job Description
The position of Operations Support Manager (OSM) is a key factor to the success of ISS payload operations. OSM is responsible for ensuring that operational products are thoroughly reviewed and vetted. OSM also spearheads the effort to keep operations process documentation current, and identifies needed process improvements and updates. OSMs are self-starters who see a need and find a solution, coordinating across all disciplines.
The OSM functions include two console roles.
o Coordinate and lead Readiness Reviews
o Maintain Increment Status for the POM, including the Heat Index
o Track new Payload Action Item List items (PAILs) and present PAIL status at Mission Operations Panel (MOP)/Increment MOP
o Support increment management meetings.
o Participate in or lead tiger teams for real-time anomalies and issues
o Support the POM/APOM in managing the increment operations
- Increment OSM provides support to the Payload Operations Manager (POM) and Assistant POM in the POM Office:
o Coordinate and lead Readiness Reviews
o Maintain Increment Status for the POM, including the Heat Index
o Track new Payload Action Item List items (PAILs) and present PAIL status at Mission Operations Panel (MOP)/Increment MOP
o Support increment management meetings.
o Participate in or lead tiger teams for real-time anomalies and issues
o Support the POM/APOM in managing the increment operations
- PREP OSM provides support to the Integration POD in the Product Readiness and Enhancement for Payloads (PREP) room
The OSM functions also include off-console duties:
o Payload Regulations
o Operations Interface Procedures (OIP) Vol K
o Payload Operations Philosophy (POP)
- Serve as book manager for ISS operations documents:
o Payload Regulations
o Operations Interface Procedures (OIP) Vol K
o Payload Operations Philosophy (POP)
- Coordinate OIP reviews across POIF and provide status to the MOP
- Lead the payload archival process to ensure inactive payloads are removed from all products
- Track the PAIL list and ensure they are being worked in a timely manner
- Participate in tiger teams and focus groups to discuss and revise processes and procedures
- Coordinate the review of PIRNs and Exceptions across the POI team
- Ensure that SEI Guidelines and Constraints memos and updates are incorporated into the Payload Regulations
- Other duties as assigned by HP21 in support of ISS operations
Job Requirements
- Leadership ability
- Highly motivated and detail oriented
- Current ISS Payload Flight Controller Certification or qualification is preferred
- Minimum 3 years’ experience supporting ISS Payload Operations is highly desired
- POIC PREP Room experience is preferred
