Position Purpose:


Oversee plant operations including production, manufacturing, and distribution of product. Identify problems and develop plans to improve uses of materials, machines, and employees. Ensure safety and success in the work environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead a manufacturing operation that exhibits continuous improvement measured by on-time delivery, productivity, safety, quality, and cost containment. Responsible for the following functions within the operation: operations, materials, precurment, forecasting ship/receiving with an indirect connection to quality, maintenance and safety.
  • Manage, implement and improve systems to streamline and maintain proper shop floor controls including production scheduling, reporting, inventory control and performance measurements.
  • Identify and implement cost and throughput process improvements; ensure equipment and processes provide operator safety; effectively support the implementation of new products into production.
  • Review production and operating reports to resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays. Identify potential problems and take corrective action.
  • Maintain a sustainable organization that encourages teamwork, a safety-first attitude, and quality system compliance. Identify areas of employee development and provide training. Ensure administration of policies, work rules, and established procedures. Seek input from hourly employees and maintain good employee relations.
  • Lead improvement swith production reporting, such as electronic data collection and over all QAD integrity.
  • Identify necessary areas of development and provide necessary coaching and training
  • Manage all labor relations policies and communication to ensure non-union status.
  • Prepare, manager and track annual budget for department.
  • Establish business metrics that track performance to key objectives and targets.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the facility.

Education and Training

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Operations, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, or related area

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of work experience in manufacturing. Previous engineering and project management work experience is a plus.
  • Experience should include direct manufacturing management required.
  • Should be familiar with manufacturing concepts such as Kanban, Lean Manufacturing, 5S.
  • A results-oriented individual possessing analytical skills and demonstrated ability to plan and prioritize projects. Ability to execute multiple responsibilities, projects, and activities.
  • Good communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to lead by example supporting a team-oriented environment, and maintain good employee relations.
  • Computer literate using windows-based software.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and other safety regulations is required.
  • Foundry experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in heavy manufacturing processes (Mechanical and hydraulic presses, stamping, etc.)

Physical Demands

  • Physical Requirements (standing, lifting, repetitive tasks)
  • Travel-approximately 10%

Environmental Conditions

  • Exposure to extreme heat and extreme cold while in the plant.
