Job Responsibilities
The Technical Operations Manager supports the General Manager through timely completion of assigned administrative and project duties. This individual will hold expertise in the areas of engineering, mechanical systems, project management, construction, code compliance, as well as strong understanding of customer service.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

- Work closely with unit owners on in-unit renovations by reviewing construction plans and ensuring compliance with the construction rules and regulations.
- Take lead on all minor and capital repair projects, to include communication with 3rd party vendors and the onsite engineering team.
- Pulling and reading of building drawings for projects and drawings
- Review all maintenance agreements for the proper scope of services and to ensure compliance with all contractual requirements.
- Monitor the automated building system and follow up on any changes or adjustments required.
- Act as a liaison between the association and 3rd party engineering team through clear and concise communication.
- Act as a liaison to the Facilities and Energy Committee, include special and major capital repair projects.
- Act as a liaison to the City of Chicago departments and Alderman for code and building related matters.
- Take lead on electric vehicle outlets in the garage as well as communication with unit owners regarding same.
- Manage all leaks, to include oversight of the mitigation and restoration efforts as well as communication with the unit owner over insurance responsibilities and insurance carrier claim handling.
- Ensure contractors are working in a safe manner consistent with OSHA requirements.
- Works closely with General Manager, Engineering, Maintenance and Janitorial Teams for facility maintenance concerns and in-unit work ticket matters.
- On call support to General Manager and Engineering Staff in the event of building emergencies.
- Work in coordination with other Management Office Team members on projects related to other building committees as needed.
Additional Duties & Responsibilities
- Practice and adhere to FirstService Residential Global Service Standards.
- Conduct business at all times with the highest standards of personal, professional and ethical conduct.
- Perform or assist with any operations as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules. Notify supervision of unusual equipment or operating problems and the need for additional material and supplies.
- May participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, policies, and regulatory guidelines.
- Ensure all safety precautions are followed while performing the work.
- Follow all policies and Standard Operating Procedures as instructed by Management.
- Perform any range of special projects, tasks and other related duties as assigned.
- Transcribe and type documents and letters as required.
- Fax and/or scan and email documents as requested.
- Maintain an organized workspace.
- Complete company training as assigned, attend all mandatory company functions and adhere to First Service Standards of Operation.
Education & Experience
- BS/BA Degree preferred. Engineering degree a plus.
- Minimum of three years property management experience or project management desired.
