Company/Location Overview:
The Operations Cost Manager is responsible for leading the Operations Cost Accountants in the area of functional consistency, enterprise wide reporting, purchase standard cost setting, RNV reconciliation, and PPV reporting. The Operations cost manager will analyze costs by studying historical data, identifying trends in expenses, and recommending areas of cost reduction. They oversee the cost control systems, manage and interpret cost audits, and prepare cost accounting reports for presentation to top management.In addition, the Operations Cost Manager will assist the Controllers with annual standard setting, enterprise wide analysis, and audits.
  • Provide analysis of plant operations financial results and COGS results. Lead the annual budgeting process for operations finance. Communicate, assist and advise department heads in the Monthly Variance Analysis. Ensure timely and accurate month end close and reconciliation of bal sheet accounts. Coordinate the monthly/yearly inven tory close out process for the US plants (SA). Ensure that all financial activities comply with all laws and GAAP. Continuously improve the close, financial reporting and account analysis process.
  • Provide accurate, timely, and relevant data to help make good business decisions.
  • Provide leadership to operations to establish meaningful, timely and immediate metrics to help manage the business and measure performance. Vet data monthly to confirm accuracy of KPI/COGNOS reports (Plant Financial Statements/PPV/Variances).
  • Learn how to develop and maintain standard cost data for new and existing products and ensure accurate inventory valuation. This role will be a back up to the Plant Controllers in the areas of item master set up and sku cost activation. Establish and verify costs, specifically component costs, used for inventory valuation and COGS posting. This includes understanding of various ERP (Sys21 transactions) such as: 11-24/MDM, 13/DIM, 11/MDC and occasional 4/MDC work. Coordinate consistency between the Operational Cost System and the Managerial Costing System.
  • Lead reporting efforts related to B/S inventory such as perpetual inventory reporting and barrel rollforwards. Work with the plants and A/P to keep RNV (Received Not Vouchered) reconciled and representative of actual liability. Complete monthly RNV reconciliation by end of day 4.
  • Continuous improvement of financial systems and reporting.
  • Analyze complex financial information and reports to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to all levels of organization and leadership for decision-making purposes. Responsible for Annual Operating Planning process
  • Conduct Performance reviews with direct reports to improve skills and performance utilizing the Performance Development System (PDS) as tool to conduct optimal discussions, articulate consistent skill evaluations, recommend actions and tactics, and measure progress. Support the widespread use of PDS within the finance organization. Promote and support Company culture within the finance organization.
