Smithbucklin, a 650-person, employee-owned professional services company with more than 70 years of success serving the association market, with primary offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C. is looking for an Operations Analyst to join our team in Chicago or Washington, DC. Smithbucklin’s newly established Operations team manages day-to-day professional services operations of the association management line of business and supports enterprise-wide operations transformation efforts. This person will closely with the Operations Director, Senior Vice President, Business Operations and Transformation, and other corporate leaders.

Operations manages day-to-day professional services operations of the association management line of business and support will enable our internal team members and leaders to provide a great experience to Smithbucklin association clients and employees at the same time. We embody a mindset of continuous improvement as we execute core processes and systems, optimize day-to-day operational execution, and deliver analysis, recommendations, and insights to improve Smithbucklin operations.

What You Will Do

  • Execute day-to-day operational processes, analytics/KPIs, business systems, tools, protocols
  • Support enterprise operations transformation initiatives regarding task tracking, reporting, change management, communications, etc.
  • Produce insightful data reports on KPIs / metrics on time and with quality to inform executives and improve operations
  • Drive/support operational process improvements, optimizing business performance and outcomes
  • Participate in operational data quality and data governance corporate initiatives as appropriate

Basic Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, business, mathematics, data science, or a related field and/or equivalent professional experience
  • Proficiency with Excel (formulas, pivot tables, lookup functions, external data source connections) and MS Office / O365 required
  • Some proficiency with Tableau or Power BI (or equivalent) desired
  • Some proficiency with project management approach and tools (e.g., Smartsheet, MS Project)
  • Ability to work cooperatively and independently, excellent skills in research and data analysis, oral and written communication, visual presentation of complex concepts, and self-organization


Preferred Qualifications

  • Related internship or professional experience is highly preferred
  • Project management credential (e.g., PMP)
  • Project experience with executive dashboard, operational excellence, Six Sigma, and/or related operational initiatives
