Pearl River County SPCA is looking for an Office Assistant who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, often chaotic and loud, environment. Must be willing to learn the how and why things are done the way they are at the shelter. We are looking for an individual who can pay attention to details, who can follow written procedures, and is comfortable with computers. Casual handling of dogs/cats may be required when they are coming in or leaving the shelter. General housekeeping and organization skills are also required. Work well with others.

Duties include:
- keeping the animals’ medical envelopes updated and in the proper location
- updating a variety of paperwork in a timely and accurate manner
- Keeping animals’ electronic data up to date
Job involves creating and maintaining information on the animals that come in and leave and the people bringing them in or leaving with them. This is done on paper and electronically.
On a daily basis, entering intake information, outcome information, releasing pets electronically, emailing the adopters adoption information.
Editing intake, adoption, reclaim, and start med pictures and uploading into PetPoint system.
Quick learner following written procedures as many rules apply as to what and how to enter the data.
Entering microchip registration information after microchip clinics and pet reclaims.
Preparing the envelopes that hold our animals’ records.
Submitting weekly and monthly reports based on data in PetPoint.
Entering specific animal information into our Access database that contains all of our medical treatments and produces our daily list of medicines to give to the animals.
Entering the initial data after start meds are done, updating as required, adding special medicines for sick animals, running various reports.
Also updating records in both systems when animals get spayed or neutered or get rabies vaccination or microchipped
Updating the paperwork that goes with each animal – medical cards and adoption envelopes
Backup to receptionist to answer phones, show people where the animals are, answer pet questionsExample would be a spay neuter spreadsheet that had column for female or male and another with the fee. Develop a formula to calculate the total charge for females and the total charge for males. Or to count the number females and males.

Get addresses from an excel spreadsheet and create and print mailing labels.
Create single labels for medicine bottles and other items.
Making simple signs and labels
