Idaho National Laboratory Aqueous Separations and Radiochemistry group and the Center for Radiation Chemistry Research are seeking to add an enthusiastic, self-motivated Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to their team. As part of our team, the successful candidate(s) will apply fundamental chemistry principles to lead the development and testing of innovative chemical separations technologies for advanced nuclear fuel cycle development, with a specific emphasis on solid-liquid separations of valuable elements/isotopes from used nuclear fuel sources. An ideal candidate(s) would have previous familiarity in one or more of the following areas: organic and/or inorganic synthesis, vitrification, radiation chemistry, and/or radiochemistry / actinide chemistry. Candidates with experience in seeking funding opportunities through grant proposal writing are also sought. These skills will be built upon throughout the duration of this position (2-3 years). Candidate(s) will have the opportunity to integrate with a diverse and inclusive team of chemists and chemical engineers spanning fundamental to applied scales to address challenges and opportunities arising throughout the nuclear fuel cycle and beyond. A successful candidate(s) will have the opportunity to grow and explore their interests while also collaborating on multidisciplinary projects.

nimum Requirements:

  • PhD requirements must be completed by commencement of appointment and within the previous 5 years
  • PhD in chemistry, physical chemistry, chemical engineering or similar degree
  • A strong background in high temperature radiation chemistry
  • Demonstrated oral and published written communication skills (in English)

  • Salary Grade: $95,004.00 annually

  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
