RSi is seeking a NON-DESTRUCTIVE EVALUATION LEVEL III to join our team supporting our customer on Redstone Arsenal.
Shall be capable of developing, qualifying, and approving procedures, establishing and approving techniques, interpreting codes, standards, specifications and procedures, and designating the particular NDT methods, techniques, and procedures to be used. Responsible for the NDT operations for which he/she is qualified and assigned and shall be capable of interpreting and evaluating results in terms of existing codes, standards, and specifications. Has sufficient practical background in applicable materials, fabrication, and product technology to establish techniques and to assist in establishing acceptance criteria when none are otherwise available. Has general familiarity with other appropriate NDT methods as demonstrated by an ASNT Level III Basic examination or other means. Capable of training and examining NDT Level II personnel for certification in those methods in which he/she is certified.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Works with customers in design reviews to determine what inspection can be performed and when. Reviews appropriate drawings and specifications to determine correct method to be deployed for the inspection, determines accept/reject criteria, writes and approves inspection documentation, and trains level II personnel to the procedure requirements. Performs NDE inspections to approved techniques in support of various NASA projects and functions. Performs daily operation of NDE systems related to the methods listed above, including: daily calibration activities; system safety checks; execution of inspection plans; interpretation of inspection data; and completion and archival of inspection data and quality records. Supports and performs field NDE testing inspections at test areas and other MSFC customer locations. For RT certification, sets up and monitors boundary areas, sets up and operates field radiography equipment, and coordinates work with test engineers and the Radiation Safety Officer. Follows all requirements of the Radiation Safety Procedural Requirements in order to successfully complete inspections in both fixed installation and field radiographic environments. Trains and tests trainees to certify them to Level II in the method(s) they are level III certified in. Performs other assigned tasks related to NDE and quality operations. Maintains current certification to ASNT or NAS 410 level III. Has the ability to obtain certification in other techniques as contract needs evolve.
Qualifications:
Shall be certified as a level III by either an employer in accordance with NAS 410 or SNT‐TC‐1A or through ASNT in at least one of the following NDE Techniques: Magnetic Particle Testing (MT); Penetrant Testing (PT); Visual Inspection/Testing (VT); Radiography Testing (RT); Ultrasonic Testing (UT); Eddy Current Testing (ET).
This position may be eligible for work from home flexibility subject to customer requirements.
