FUNCTION

Responsible for providing scheduled transportation to the resident in the company van. The driver may also assist the Activities Director as requested and to run errands for the community. The driver is also responsible to maintain the vehicle log and advise management of all needed repairs and maintenance of company van.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

· To safely provide scheduled transportation to the residents within the guidelines established by the facility. Pre-heat and cooling the van may be necessary for resident comfort.

· To pre-check the van before each trip.

· To assist residents on and off the vehicles from the door of entry and exit.

· To be in compliance with all government regulations whether rules of the road or OSHA and to be in compliance with facility policies.

· To maintain the vehicle by advising Activity Director of needed preventive maintenance or needed repairs and to maintain the vehicle log for trips and maintenance. To keep the van clean and safe.

· Practices safety in the performance of duties and the use of vehicles, fuels, etc.

· Must maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times and treat all residents with dignity and respect. To continually strive to increase resident’s satisfaction.

· Must be able to read a map, utilize resources such as a telephone book and be able to write down and follow instructions. Must have adequate communication skills in English to relate to residents, staff, medical staff, etc.

· Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND EXPERIENCE

· Must function independently with minimal supervision, be flexible in scheduling, have personal integrity, be able to work effectively with residents.

· Must enjoy working with the elderly and all who associate with them. Must be able to interact with residents who are highly susceptible to common illness without exposing them to additional health risk.

· Must be able to speak and write the English language in a understandable manner and have the communication skills needed to interact with residents.

· Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times and treat all residents with dignity and respect.

EQUIPMENT USED

· The facility Van and office equipment such as telephone, copier, computer, etc.

PHYSICAL SPECIFICATIONS

· Employee will have to pass a drug screen.

· The facility will pull a driving record, must have a clean driving record.

· Ability to assist on and off van and be able to lift non-motorized wheelchairs, walkers, and objects needed by the resident or community and be able to climb, stoop, lift, bend, kneel, push, pull, and reach to meet the needs of the residents of a minimum of 50 pounds.

· This position is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions, which may pose driving hazards.

· Moderate exposure to infection, odors, infirmities of the elderly. May involve extended periods of sitting in the van between activities.

· Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills, and/or abilities. To perform this job successfully, incumbent will possess the mental abilities and aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
