- Rheumatology Associates was founded in 1975. We have since grown to a group of 20 physicians, Board Certified in Rheumatology. Our group provides care to patients throughout the Dallas/ Fort Worth Metroplex with convenient locations in Arlington, Dallas, Duncanville, Frisco, Grapevine, Irving, Lewisville, North Richland Hills, Plano, and Rockwall.
- We treat a variety of rheumatic diseases including rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, osteoarthritis, gout, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoporosis, sarcoidosis, scleroderma, reactive arthritis, and psoriatic arthritis.
- We are proud to offer in-house diagnostic services critical to rheumatology needs including full-service x-ray, and a CLIA certified laboratory for hematology, chemistry, and immunology.
The ideal candidate for the Patient Care Coordinator position will have the following background and experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum two years of patient scheduling required.
- Experience with patient registration, insurance, and benefit verification experience required
- Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft (Outlook, Office Word, and Excel) required.
- Experience with EHR systems required (EClinical Works preferred)
- Minimum two years’ experience in a doctor’s office
- Experience on Availity/online insurance verification tools
- Knowledgeable of medical terms
- Quality written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional in appearance and mannerisms.
- Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, sometimes stressful environment
- Able to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others, patients, and co-workers alike.
- Able to prioritize tasks, understand the provider’s instructions, and know when to seek information or advice.
The essential duties and responsibilities:
- Answers incoming calls and asks appropriate questions to assess patient’s needs.
- Schedules new patient appointments with appropriate provider.
- Provides patients with appointment details such as time, location, directions, and instructions to patients.
- Maintains and updates physician schedules ensuring that patients are scheduled properly; Works in conjunction with the schedulers to accommodate scheduling requests.
- Obtains patient demographic, insurance and other pre-visit required information. Enters patient information into computer systems. Verifies patient’s insurance eligibility and benefit coverage.
- Ensure patients receive appropriate medical forms for completion prior to first visit.
- Proactively follows-up with patients on missing or outdated insurance information as well as copies of medical records and test results from other providers.'
