Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Director Cardio-Pulmonary for Mercy San Juan Medical Center and the Medical Director for Neurodiagnostic Service, the candidate must be proficient in EEG and evoked potential testing of the neonate, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients.
- Accurately makes appointments for outpatients via phone with no more than 3-4 errors in a 6 month period.
- Correctly places electrodes in all testing modalities with 95% accuracy. Determined by random sampling. Demonstrates competency in the care of neonatal, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients. Tets are relatively free of artifact, recorded notes are accurate and complete, test is run the appropriate amount of time, activations/stimulations if appropriate are done and test is downloaded for physician interpretation within 1 hour of completion
- Distinguishes between patient artifact and equipment artifact and good documentation of cause and effective correcting to be determined by doctor's evaluation sheet and random sampling with less than 5% error rate
- Accurately sends transcriptionreports to doctors within two (2) working days in and efficient manner
- Performs outpatient ambulatory long term EEG monitoring. Competent with hook-up, patient instructions, record download and scoring of patient record.
- Performs record review and clipping for epilepsy monitoring patients.
- Assists in Wada testing and intraoperative monitoring as part of Phase II monitoring of epilepsy patients.
- Completes filing of reports and purging of forty (40) records each month.
- No more than 2 patient complaints to be received each year about employees testing or care of patient.

Qualifications
Experience:
- 3 years of Neurodiagnostic technician or a combination of education and experience which provides for the knowledge, skills and abilities of the job.
Education:
- Associate of Science Degree from an accredited College with a major in neurodiagnostics, biomedical technology or general science.
License
/ Certifications:
Current registration as a Neurodiagnostic Technologist.
Special Skills:
Knowledge of:
- All aspects of neurological testing.
- EEG and evoked potential procedure techniques.
- CQI techniques and principles.
- Motivation and morale principles of the philosophy of the Sisters of Mercy.
- Computers and databases.
Ability to:
- Communicate effectively with physicians, patients, nursing staff, department heads and administrative personnel.
- Track preventative maintenance needs of all departmental equipment.
- Organize work and adjust priorities accordingly.
