Job Description*
NLSE is an emerging network offering engaging video content, established to serve the passionate fan's appreciation for competition, sportsmanship, and performance. The Motion Graphic Designer will play a key role in providing creative direction for all media endeavors including broadcast programming, branding, social media, web, affiliate ad sales, and print applications. Qualified candidates are highly creative and well-rounded individuals, who can serve as the graphic department lead, and who can generate project visions and follow them through to completion. They must possess strong visual story telling skills and highly developed senses of color, composition, and graphic design, as well as a keen understanding of current design and style trends. They should have the ability to inspire and collaborate with a team of producers, creative editors, graphic artists, and clients in the development of content that is engaging, entertaining, on message, and on brand. Extensive brand and broadcast experience is required. This is a hands-on position that will require both team leadership and self-produced graphic content.
Responsibilities

  • Work strategically with the Production Lead and other team leaders to provide creative leadership to ensure work is delivered with the highest levels of creativity and production value, and that it meets or exceeds industry standards
  • Act as creative lead for all projects, partnering with clients, producers, film crews, editors, graphic artists, and sound designers to achieve the finished product
  • Provide a creative target and provide assignments for all team members on a project
  • Work with clients, partners, and team members to develop strategies and generate new ideas to execute these strategies
  • Develop and pitch creative concepts to teams and other departments to proactively fulfill needs for content
  • Assist in creative problem solving at the initial request stage, offering creative ways to accomplish the requestor's needs within their project constraints and budgets
  • Create storyboards, creative briefs, outlines, scripts, and other documentation to convey and lead conceptualization and execution of a project
  • Guide production of filmed assets for inclusion in graphic content
  • Work with and guide editors during graphic intensive projects, provide creative direction, and participate in client reviews
  • Be a hands-on creative director with a full command of Adobe Creative Suite and supporting motion graphic programs
  • Oversee and/or execute rebranding efforts of acquired and repurposed content
  • Develop and maintain best practices for versioning control, naming conventions, organization and archiving of graphic files
  • Develop and maintain a reference database of sample materials to inspire and help stakeholders envision creative outcomes

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Design, Film, Media, Communications, related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of professional experience as a designer at an advertising agency, video production company or exemplary freelance portfolio
  • Commanding knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, After Effects and In Design
  • Must have a reel that demonstrates a history of high-quality, high-impact video content creation for broadcast and online audiences
  • Deep understanding of established and emerging trends in content consumption and audience habits
  • Exemplary organizational skills and the ability to direct multiple projects under tight deadlines
  • Ability to lead, mentor, and develop an emerging graphics department
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • 7+ years of relevant work experience
  • A passion for and knowledge of sports
  • A desire to tell stories of diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Experience with network ad sales and marketing
  • Functional knowledge of 3D animation programs outside of the Adobe Creative Suite
