Meter Reading Analyst (Silver Spring, MD) Job at WSSC Water
The
Meter Reading Analyst processes meter reading data for daily meter readings and billing; assists in the proper sequencing of meters in the meter reading routes; and performs related responsible technical and administrative work.
Essential Functions
- Uses mainframe programs to order meter reading routes and perform routing modifications
- Modifies meter location information
Analyzes and bills accounts
Operates customized software programs to prepare daily routing assignments
Assigns, loads and unloads meter reading routes to hand held computers
Creates billing files and perform routing modifications
Using Standard Microsoft or off-the-shelf software, performs daily review of billing files for errors or anomalies during the upload process; modifies files as necessary to ensure proper billing of accounts
Using mainframe or customized software programs, prints and reviews daily reports of meter reading results
Performs detailed route analysis through interaction with Meter Readers, field visits and various software programs
Assists in data compilation for reports and small projects
Assists in the collection and preparation of operating reports, such as time and attendance records, terminations, new hires, transfers, budget expenditures, and statistical records of performance data
Assists Crew Leaders in compilation of statistical data for Meter Readers
Enters time sheets and orders office supplies
Reads various water meters in the field as necessary
Drives small vehicle, with responsibility for ensuring that it is in good condition
Other Functions
Performs other related duties as assigned
Work Environment And Physical Demands
Work is performed in a business casual office setting. Some field work may be required to assist with meter reading.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Basic knowledge of the principles and methods of data gathering and compilation
- Basic knowledge of the geography and street locations of Prince George’s and/or Montgomery Counties
Ability to quickly learn customized software or computer programs
Ability to effectively develop efficient routes
Ability to develop and/or write clear concise reports, memoranda, and letters
Ability to develop plans from general supervision and with only general direction
Ability to plan and assign the work of others
Ability to interact with customers and discuss problems and complaints tactfully, courteously and effectively
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts
Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office software
Minimum Education, Experience Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years experience in meter reading and/or metering
