Job Summary: Are you an experienced process engineer or manufacturing engineer? Are you skilled at implementing, controlling and optimizing industrial processes and machinery in the manufacturing industry? Consider joining the Pennex family as a Process Engineer at our Leetonia, OH location. In this role, you’ll be responsible for improving existing and creating new processes aimed at extrusion productivity, recovery and efficiency optimization. This role will work with a growing engineering department and will report to the Technical Manager.
Responsibilities of the Role:
- Develop manufacturing processes (recipes) for new and existing products to achieve optimal extrusion productivity and recovery
- Partner with manufacturing personnel to identify and resolve extrusion process issues by developing robust extrusion processes and optimizing the manufacturing process
- Support and train operators in the fundamentals of the extrusion process
- Solve complex technical problems to root cause by providing metallurgical or materials expertise to manufacturing processes
- Conduct and analyze plant trials to support new products and problem solving
- Interpret failure data and tests to identify material issues
- Work closely with Sales, Manufacturing, Die Shop and Quality teams
- Comply and promote safety initiatives within normal job duties as well as throughout the operation
- Support advanced product quality planning
- Oversee part control plan, pre-launch part control plan – (GP-12; early production validation plan)
- Oversee process monitoring and operating Instructions
- Process improvement activities including process analysis and root cause analysis for repeat DMRs, CCNs, error and mistake proofing, problem solving, run rate analysis, process failure modes and effects analysis
- Perform other duties as assigned
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Education
- Desired: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Metallurgy, Material Science or related field from accredited college or university
- Required: High School Diploma with advanced training or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience
- 5 years or more experience with aluminum extrusion processing supporting manufacturing operations. Automotive industry experience a plus.

- Highly motivated, self-driven, and eager to learn and apply new skills
- Attentive to details and follows through on assigned tasks and commitments
- Flexible and driven to meet tight deadlines, handle multiple projects and prioritize them appropriately
- Strong organizational skills, and ability to effectively disseminate information in a clear and concise manner
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, vendors and employees of the organization
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
- Must be eligible to work in the United States, visa sponsorships are not available
