This posting will be used for 30 days to conduct ongoing recruitment and will remain open until the position and/or positions have been filled.

Why does the job exist?

Incumbent will be responsible for providing social work services at the Forensic Unit.

How does it get done?

Incumbent will conduct psychosocial assessments in a timely manner and in accordance with and as per current/said policy.

Ideal Candidate

Ideal candidate will have:
Experience working with treatment teams and treatment plans;
Experience working with rehabilitation and resiliency;
Experience working with promoting recovery;
Must be licensed in accordance with the Social Work Practice Act;
Sections 61-31-1 through 61-31-25 NMSA 1978, and 16.63.1 through 16-63-20 NMAC.

Minimum Qualification

Associate's degree in Human Services or Social Sciences and two (2) years of experience in mental health and/or substance abuse counseling. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

1. SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITIONS-This position ls designated as safely sensitive. Employment Is subject to pre-employment and random testing. In accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Employment ls subject to nationwide criminal background check and is conditional pending results.
2. CRIMINAL RECORDS BACKGROUND CHECK. Must successfully complete post offer pre-employment criminal records background check. Employment is conditional pending the results of criminal records background checks. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Working Conditions

State of New Mexico employees may be impacted by the Public Health Order dated December 19, 2022, which requires facilities licensed or certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ("CMS"), including all hospital types, long-term care facilities, nursing homes, hospice facilities and rehabilitation facilities, as well as assisted living facilities and adult day care settings, to adhere to all COVID-related requirements prescribed by CMS, including, but not limited to masking and staff vaccination.

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Effective 01/01/2015, the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute became a 100% Tobacco Free/E-Cigarette Free Campus. As such, no tobacco, tobacco products or E-Cigarette products are permitted on any part of the campus.
