DUTIES:
- Develop and maintain the NYARNG medical records program
- Assemble, analyze, code, abstract, report, file, create, maintain, and extract medical/dental records information of current Service Members
- Upload Service Member medical documentation into electronic databases and hard-copy files
- Compile and prepare medical records as needed (ex: as needed for Basic Military Training, Schools, Transfer, Discharge, Retirement, and all Medical Readiness Events.)
- Prescreen medical records to identify medical or dental health issues that prevent an individual from qualifying for deployment
- Act as the sole representative to leadership for all Service Treatment Records (STR) requirements and the discharge program
- For leadership review and approval, recommend and draft policies and procedures related to processing medico-legal documents and correspondence requests, and related to documenting, storing, and retrieving medical records information in a way that conforms to Federal, State, and local statutes.
- Advise leadership on medical records procedures and problems and recommend solutions
- Apply legal principles, policies, regulations, and standards for the control and use of medical records information
- Review and analyze information reported into data systems and provide leadership with recommendations for using resources more efficiently
- Compile and complete special and recurring Soldier Medical and Dental Compliance reports for the MEDCOM, JFHQ, and National Guard Bureau (NGB).
- Make projections on growth of the medical records system and recommend design changes to accommodate program expansion
- Maintain current knowledge of all guidelines and regulations impacting the management of Medical Records
- Mark and safeguard files, output products, and storage media per classification level and disseminate them only to individuals authorized to receive them
- Conduct annual medical/dental record inventory
REQUIREMENTS:
- Associates Degree
- At least three years of experience in an administrative position, preferably medical.
Location and Hours:
- Location: Primary place of performance is Watervliet, NY, but alternate work sites, during Medical Readiness Events, are typically Camp Smith, Cortlandt Manor, NY; Fort Drum, NY, and other additional sites as directed by the NYARNG**Telework not authorized**
- Hours: Services are to be provided between the hours of 7AM and 5 PM (EST) Monday through Friday unless specified otherwise for a Medical Readiness Event (events typically held on a monthly basis)
- Services may occasionally be required on evenings or weekends. If the employee is required to work evenings or weekends, we will flex employee hours.

- Salary: $21.00- 25.00 USD Per Hour
