We are seeking a PRN Medical Laboratory for our growing Pathology Lab located in Beltsville, MD. This position supports the pathology histology laboratory in preparing, processing, and staining of tissue specimens for review by the pathologists. The hours are Monday-Friday and are flexible in the morning or late afternoon.

Medical Laboratory Scientist Responsibilities:

  • Performs tests with accuracy and documents results within patient charts in a timely manner.
  • Performs QC and QA metrics, implementing Quality Improvement when necessary.
  • Primary responsibility for oversight of high volume hematology, clinical chemistry and immunoassay testing.
  • Oversight and training of laboratory assistants with CLIA documentation.
  • Ability to perform intense trouble-shooting of processes.
  • Assists Director in meeting department regulatory agency requirements (CAP, CLIA, etc.)
  • Calibrates, cleans and performs controls on the Clinical Analyzer instrumentation as required for proper maintenance of the instrument.
  • Maintains accurate logs and records following OSHA standards.
  • Keeps supplies fully stocked.
  • Organizes and labels specimens/paperwork; and keep records of tests.
  • Disposes of laboratory waste and change solutions appropriately.
  • Performs other laboratory and office duties as assigned by manager.


Medical Laboratory Scientist Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree and Certification through ASCP as a MT or MLS required.
  • Minimum of one year relevant experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist with Clinical Laboratory experience required.
