Medical Assistant (Gyn/Infertility Clinic) - Bay View, MI - 082021 Job at Kona Medical Consulting
Duties and Responsibilities:
The position will basically be divided into:
Desk Work:
- Prepping charts for pts. to be seen. Putting on progress note page, USN form, lab order sheet, mammogram order;
- Answering MA phone extension and taking the message;
- Calling in Rx or e-prescribing;
- Calling or texting pts. back with answers or instructions;
- Scheduling add-on appts. For fertility pts. or emergencies;
- Checking for lab results on the computer;
- Calling offices, hospitals to get records;
- Scheduling colonoscopies;
- Scheduling CT’s, MRI’s;
- Prior authorizations for Xrays or Rx;
- Faxing testing orders to labs, Xrays.
Direct Patient Care in Office
- Putting pt. in the room – weight, check urine;
- Cleaning room between pts;
- Cleaning instruments and putting in an autoclave;
- Restocking rooms;
- ordering pt. room or lab supplies i.e. gowns, paper, sheet;
- Teaching pts. how to give meds;
- Giving occasional IM injections;
- Occasional blood draw;
- Obtaining saliva specimens for DNA testing.
Other Qualifications:
- Background in a Gyn/Infertility clinic/office is an advantage;
- Willing and interested to learn in the field of Gyn/infertility;
- Can communicate and listen well with patients as this is very essential as an MA;
- Attention details and can work under less supervision;
