Medical Assistant Job at Yag-Howard Cosmetic Dermatology
Successful cosmetic / derm practice, Yag-Howard Cosmetic Dermatology, is looking for an experienced Medical Assistant. We are looking for someone who loves aesthetics and enjoys working with medical providers (MD and PA). We have a talented and professional team and are looking to add someone with a positive personality, good communication, and a strong patient care ethic.
Patient Appointments are: 8 to 4 Monday through Thursday and 8 to 12 on Friday, you are usually here 30min before the first appt and 30min after the last appt. No evenings, weekends or holidays.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Welcome and prepare patients. Prepare them as needed for the exam or procedure; complete charting requirements for history, complaint, medications, quality improvement (MIPS), etc.
- Prepare room as needed for exam, procedure, surgery, wound care, etc. and have patient in appropriate position prior to provider coming into room.
- Present patient to provider giving all pertinent information and attend or assist in exam/treatment/biopsy(s) while also serving as scribe documenting provider treatment/exam detail.
- Take quality pictures as part of the medical record. Pictures may include Before, During and After images. Ensure as much consistency of position, lighting and composition as possible.
- Prepare in advance by: stocking rooms, preparing syringes, wrapping and sterilizing instruments, towels and surgical trays, check general room supplies and bio-hazard fill levels.
- Review pathology, lab or other relevant documents (outside medical records) prior to rooming and/or presenting the patient to the provider.
- Clean and re-prep room after patient leaves: use anti-bacterial wipes or spray on touched surfaces and / or where tissue or blood may have dropped – including tv remote and bell; dispose of all waste items appropriately (sharps, laundry, trash, instrument tray, etc.).
- eScribe and communicate “where” and “when” prescription will be available to patient.
- Provide take-home instructions and directions when needed.
- Document and communicate post-visit follow-up and care plan, with special attention to any high-risk or cancer follow-up care (i.e., melanoma follow-up system).
- Complete visit note the same day ensuring that it accurately reflects the visit that day.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Attend morning team meetings and any other training or development meetings.
- Individual task(s): each team member is assigned a non-patient task. It may be ordering supplies, or managing a tracking log book, or some similar task.
- Developing familiarity with dermatologic language, diagnoses, procedures, terms, medications, etc.
- Developing familiarity with cosmetic/aesthetic language, diagnoses, procedures, terms, medications, etc.
Education & Experience:
- CMA or Florida Nursing license
- 1-2 years dermatology experience or 3-4 years in a related field
