About the Clinic for Special Children: *The Clinic for Special Children (CSC) is a medical practice located in Strasburg, PA that serves children and adults with genetic disorders from primarily the Amish and Mennonite communities. The Clinic’s mission is to provide CSC patients with innovative, culturally competent, personalized medical care.

Position Summary: The Medical Assistant assists in providing day-to-day clinical and administrative services to medically complex children and adults. Daily responsibilities include rooming patients, phlebotomy, cleaning and preparing exam rooms, answering phone calls, and scheduling appointments.

Minimum Requirements to apply:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) from an accredited medical assistance program, certification as a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or willingness to sit for certificate.
• Active BLS certification or willingness to obtain certification.

Preferred training/experience but not required to find success in this position:

• Associates in relevant area
• 1-2 years of medical assistant experience, preferably with both pediatric and adult
• Proficiency with Epic EHR

Responsibilities include:

• Assisting physicians with various outpatient procedures, refill requests, coordination of studies, and referral for patients.
• Supporting outreach clinics or performing home visits with providers, as needed.
• Participating in translational clinical research protocols.
• Preparing patients for examination, collecting specimens and preparing samples for the lab. Administering vaccines and medications.
