Inside the Role
Liaison Engineering (LE) has a network of highly skilled teams located at our Truck and Part Plants in the U.S. and Mexico, serving as the technical interface between Design Engineering and Production. LE serves the mission critical role of driving real-time resolution to engineering issues encountered during production, assuring our trucks are built with technically feasible, robust solutions that meet our customers’ requirements. LE also plays a critical role during the early and ensuing phases of new product development, providing technical input and creative design recommendations that ensure the product developed is as robust and truck plant friendly as possible.

Position offers a starting salary range of $67,500 - $86,500 USD
Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience.

What You Drive at DTNA
  • Provide timely technical support to Production on questions about Engineering designs and/or documentation.
  • Document technical issues that are determined to be the responsibility of Engineering in the Shopcall System.
  • Actively manage Shopcalls through each stage with appropriate urgency/timing requirements: Open, Resolved, Verification, Closed
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with all impacted parties (Engineering, Production, Manufacturing, LCM, Quality, Warranty, etc.)
  • Assure Shopcall solutions are timely, robust, cost effective, and Engineering aligned.
  • Evaluate products, processes, and systems from an operational and manufacturing environment perspective and communicate recommended improvements to Engineering.
  • Support Engineering by proactively identifying and resolving small/medium scope design and/or documentation issues (LE+ Process).
  • Share important information about product issues, solutions, and best practices with our Liaison Engineering Network at the other Truck & Parts Plants.
  • Keep abreast of state of the art developments in the trucking and manufacturing industry and apply the new knowledge to designs as appropriate.
  • Utilize effective collaboration and best practice methods to identify and resolve engineering issues early in the New Product Development process.
  • Generate and implement ideas to improve systems, tools, processes as well as product cost and quality.
  • Keep management informed on developments with key product issues and their resolution, and with the status of projects and special assignments
Knowledge You Should Bring
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Self-starter and quick learner with the ability to work well in a collaborative team environment required
  • Solid understanding of engineering and upstream and downstream processes required
  • Strong demonstrated verbal, written, and problem solving skills required
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines required
Exceptional Candidates Might Have
  • Knowledge of truck assembly and plant processes preferred
  • Demonstrated CAD expertise (Catia V5 or NX) preferred
  • Experience with DTNA systems preferred
