Mechanical Planner
Experience: This position requires 8+ years of relevant industrial experience in managing planners & building packages.
Generally responsible for assisting in planning heavy industrial mechanical/piping projects, monitoring project costs and/or estimating projects. Work will be performed under minimal supervision.
- Read and understand work order defining scope items
- Summarize in writing each scope items as regards repair/replace/new scope description
- P&ID understanding and interpretation
- Drawing “simple” schematics sketches drawings (refinery equip/assets and pipe)
- Reading IFC and engineering packages
- Stepping out all jobs related to mechanical/vessel/tower clean inspection and repair scope
- Stepping out all jobs related to valves, piping build, and/or replacement in-kind scope
- Ability to decide crane size requirements or know how to obtain same
- Understands basic primavera schedules
- Must be able to coach planners and perform the package development along side planners
- Must take photos of scope items and be able to markup using photo editor and articulate plan verbiage
- Build TA individual scope package on paper as well as electronically
- Manage over-all spreadsheet that progresses planning percent complete

- Possesses a comprehensive understanding of the function of all engineering disciplines.
- Understanding of existing and potential customer deliverable expectations and preferences.
- Ability to set priorities.
- Ability to effectively discuss and correspond with engineering disciplines and/or contractors to ascertain and understand pertinent information concerning schedules, scopes of work, estimates and/or project costs.
- Coaching and mentoring skills and experience.
- Excellent listening and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Knowledge of other disciplines deliverable development to ensure coordination of efforts.
- Knowledge and understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements for the production of all project controls deliverables.
- Basic understanding of Primavera P6 scheduling software.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.

- Ability to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50.00 - $55.00 per hour
