Job Description:
As a growing Department of Defense Contractor, AUSGAR Technologies is expanding its workforce and has a NEW OPENING for a Mechanical Engineer/Systems Engineer II.
Mechanical Engineer/Systems Engineer will be responsible for providing technical support for the assembly, fabrication, and testing/evaluation of radiation detection systems with a focus on prototype design. The engineer will develop requirements for embedded systems, program digital hardware components, and program embedded software. The candidate should have hands-on experience and be comfortable working in a lab environment. Designs will be brought from initial concepts to robust prototypes in a fast-paced environment. Therefore, experience with building and testing is desired.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide technical support for the assembly, fabrication, and testing/evaluation of radiation detection systems
- Develop requirements for embedded systems; program digital hardware components, program embedded software to meet memory, performance, interfacing, and power requirements
- Track critical specification requirements through the development and test cycles
- Provide electrical and mechanical hardware development to include design, analysis, building, test and evaluation
- Provide computer engineering expertise as related to equipment prototype and operational systems
- Duties include soldering, cable & connector assembly, documentation, quality assurance testing, and configuration management
Total Years of Related Experience for Position: 1-3 years of related technical/engineering experience
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Master's Degree preferred.
- 1-3 years of related technical/engineering experience
- Provide technical support for the assembly, fabrication, and testing/evaluation of radiation detection systems
- Develop requirements for embedded systems; program digital hardware components, program embedded software to meet memory, performance, interfacing, and power requirements
- Track critical specification requirements through the development and test cycles
- Provide electrical and mechanical hardware development to include design, analysis, building, test and evaluation
- Provide computer engineering expertise as related to equipment prototype and operational systems
- Duties include soldering, cable & connector assembly, documentation, quality assurance testing, and configuration management
- Self-motivated to achieve success with minimal oversight
- Ability and enthusiasm to learn and adapt to new mechanical engineering fields and focuses
- Some travel required (up to 2 times per year)
- Active Secret Clearance required
An essential qualification for this position is successfully obtaining a Secret security clearance issued by the Federal Government, which may require successful completion of a background check.
