General Description

Under the direction of the Engineering Lead, the Mechanical Designer will work as an integral part of the team to detail drawings in accordance with the project schedules. In order to complete this process, communication with multiple groups within the company will be necessary, potentially including manufacturing, engineering, sales, and/or field service. In addition to working as part of a project team, the position will have additional duties completing Engineering Changes and maintaining part/assembly information with the ERP system

· Detail assigned projects, in collaboration with engineering, and shop needs.

· Submit drawings to lead engineers and/or team leads for review prior to release.

· Maintain BOM and part information within the ERP system.

· Detail in accordance with BCT drawing guidelines and SOP’s.

· Develop drawings for ease of assembly and installation.

· Hold self accountable to meeting timelines for production releases.

· Assist in communication and documentation of daily project status and release dates.

· Helps drive and support BCT’s Culture and Core Values

Qualifications

· Proficiency in SolidWorks or Equivalent 3D software.

· Ability to detail in accordance with standard drawing practices.

· Experience maintaining bill of materials and part information using an ERP system.

· Ability to prioritize workload and meet company objectives

· Strong interpersonal & written skills with desire to be an active team member.

· Demonstrate proficiency with computers skills; MS Office, MS Project or similar project management software. MS Developer and Visual Basic knowledge is a plus.

Education and/or Experience

Requires associates or bachelor’s degree with 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Work Environment

This job operates primarily in an office environment, with work that will occasionally take them out to the shop floor. While performing the duties of this job out in the shop, the employee may occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. When in the shop the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the shop is sometimes loud enough to require hearing protection.
