Atlas Copco Comptec LLC, located in Voorheesville, NY, is seeking a Mechanical Designer. The primary objectives of this position include:

Responsible for completing engineering and CAD design tasks for execution of mechanical upgrade projects related to existing customer’s equipment (centrifugal compressors). Assistance during the proposal phase is an important aspect of the position to help ensure accurate and cost-effective projects, once orders are received.

• Provide support to project team during team project execution.
• Create CAD models, machining drawings, package designs, etc. when required.
• Propose design concepts and offer recommendations for standard compressor upgrades.
• Create and/or modify bills of material (BOM) and create / extend part numbers as needed.
• Provide design and engineering support to Service Center North America facility as needed.
• Support manufacturing to help rectify design issues during machining and assembly.
• Provide/review documents and drawings to/from vendors and assist application engineers with requests for proposals (RFQ’s).
• Be conscious of job and component cost and advise areas of concern.
• Comply with Safety Rules, Regulations and OSHA Requirements

What we expect of you?

High School graduate with an Associates degree in Computer Aided Drafting or Mechanical Design is preferred. Strong computer skills, including experience with CAD software is strongly suggested. Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing knowledge is a plus.
