Talascend is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Materials Science Engineer for a long-term contract opportunity in Alpharetta, GA.

SUMMARY:

The goal of this contract work is to reduce materials of each type and application to one preferred and one alternate, thereby standardizing materials, reducing waste, and improving production efficiency.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• The ideal candidate will need navigate our database of materials used for product development and standardize each type across all programs.
• Will have to determine the optimal material for each application by testing materials of similar type, analyzing data, and making decisions on which materials to move forward with based off best performance.
• Interface with other engineering teams and the manufacturing floor and will therefore need to have a deep understanding of materials and mechanical engineering principles, good communication skills, strong teamwork, and be familiar with design of experiments.
• Interface with vendors to get material recommendations and samples and should be able to work as an individual and as a team.
• The candidate will have demonstrated being capable of balancing multiple projects and be willing to own and defend their choices.
• Technical Functions/Skills: Skills/Knowledge:
• Materials Science Mechanical Testing Electronic Packaging Good Communication Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint Data Analysis Microscopy (Optical and Scanning Electron)

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSES ETC.:

• Min of 4-year degree REQUIRED with preferred focus in MSEN or comparable discipline Min of 5 years’ experience 100% onsite work - no option for hybrid or remote
• Excellent people skills to include collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment
• Outstanding work ethic and commitment to organizational success
• Knowledge and understanding of product quality processes
• Ability to accurately complete all required paperwork
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products
• Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, & presentation)
