Position Responsibilities:

The material handling operations at Turkey Hill Dairy includes dry, wet, ambient and cold storage environments. Material Handlers are responsible for the proper storing, staging, transferring, freezing and loading of food products and or materials utilizing manual and powered material handling equipment in a cGMP compliant environment. Material Handlers responsibilities include proper use of required PPE in these respective environments.

In addition to the material handling equipment this position include responsibilities for the proper and safe use of radio frequency equipment, fork truck battery changers, stretch wrappers, dock plates and truck locking devices.

Material Handlers may have some contact with vendors and delivery drivers and will have responsibility for representing the company in a positive and professional manor at all times. Material handlers are also responsible for the proper and safe spotting of transport trailers on the property.

Material Handlers responsibilities also include keeping records of materials transferred and verifying that materials are placed in the correct storage and staging areas while ensuring inventory accuracy according to applicable SOPs and ensuring good documentation practices are followed.

Key Duties:

• Receive supplies and materials by unloading trucks in accordance to all applicable SOPs related to trailer condition, verify shipment counts, materials condition and document shortages/damages.
• Place materials into proper storage conditions and follow all applicable SOPs for storage, tempering and transport of materials maintaining product quality, tractability and security of materials.
• Pick proper quantities of packaging materials, ingredients and production supplies and transport product in a food safe manner to production lines.
• Transfer back into raw materials inventory the balances of packaging materials, ingredients and production supplies from the production lines to the warehouse(s) in a food safe manner.
• Pick proper quantities of finished goods; perform the required data input and load onto transports for shipping in accordance with all applicable SOPs to maintain proper inventory values, product quality, tractability and security of finished goods.
• Palletize discharged finished goods for the VRT; perform the required data input and load into finished goods storage.
• Through a good working knowledge of inventory locations, inventory sizes, types, pallet counts and patterns, efficiently and accurately make physical and electronic transfers of materials throughout the material handling process chain.
• Tasks include housekeeping, general sanitation and product quality assessment responsibilities throughout the material movement process.
• Maintain the integrity of the quality system.
• Be engaged in the day-to-day running of the business by performing tasks beyond normal/baseline job responsibilities, participating in team or business improvement meetings and initiatives positioned toward improving business results.

Minimum Skills Requirements:

• High school education or equivalency.
• Must have previous forklift experience.
• Demonstrated ability to operate a forklift efficiently and safely.
• Demonstrated ability to execute safe work practices & behaviors.
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast paced environment.
• Demonstrated ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Demonstrated ability to work well with all levels of personnel individually or in a team environment and ability to interface and communicate with production line workers and area managers.
• Demonstrated willingness to work any shift, weekends and holidays.
• Demonstrated willingness to adhere to cGMP requirements.

Physical Requirements:

Position requires the ability to pass drug screens utilizing hair testing and partner to provide a drug-free, healthful and safe work environment.

Position may involve standing for extended periods of times. Work may occur in environments with temperature ranges from ambient to -25º F.

Position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, good visual accuracy, able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, effective verbal communication skills.
