Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
The Opportunity:
As marketing manager for our Multiple System Operators (MSO) segment, part of the Coring Optical Communications Marketing organization, you will be responsible for developing and executing the marketing plan to help deliver growth in our MSO customers. This leader will be responsible for an Account Based Marketing (ABM) plan, developing/executing product launches, and creating awareness/preference in our key customers. This person collaborates with multiple functions, including Market Development and Sale to drive revenue growth. Success is measured by: a) the ability to grow the segment revenue, b) internal/external assessment of launch quality, c) brand preference/share in MSO market, d) customer satisfaction in core marketing areas processes, e) the ability to develop and execute a robust Account Based Marketing plan. You will be part of the Global Marketing function of the Optical Commercial Organization (OCO) working with a highly collaborative group of in house creative, digital, and programs teams as well as external agencies to help execute a robust marketing program.
This role is key to our organization because you will play a pivotal role in leading our marketing strategy and deliver business results. This role is right for you if you have a demonstrated track record of managing marketing campaigns and working with large accounts. In this role, you will have the opportunity to own your budget; utilizing it to improve our position in key accounts, deliver demand generation, and drive thought leadership within target customer segments.
As a marketing manager you will have the opportunity to learn and grow as you manage end to end marketing efforts including: ownership of the customer digital buying journey, goal setting, customer personification, campaign creation, and execution of integrated marketing plans. As you build your career in this role you will collaborate with and gain exposure to several functions like Product Line Management, Market Development, and Customer Experience. Additionally, as a marketing manager you will work closely with our Regional Sales teams to help deliver our value proposition to customers; acting as force multipliers and enabling our teams to win deals and gain adoption of our solutions.
What you will do:
Own Account Base Marketing and Marketing Strategy:
- You will have an ownership stake in driving business growth through development of Account Base Marketing plans that drive account penetration, demand with our customers, and thought leadership in this segment.
- You will have the opportunity to own comprehensive marketing plans that target growth in key accounts. Inclusive of budget, resources, communication plan, media plan, promotion, and demand generation.
- You will focus on growing revenue for your segment though increasing qualified leads, marketing opportunity pipeline, and marketing influenced revenue.
- You will own the digital buying journey for your segment, optimizing our digital footprint to deliver a frictionless customer experience and maximizing conversion to sales opportunities.
Develop Market and Customer Intimacy:
- You will build your understanding of the market segment and associated applications / solutions.
- You will serve as the segment Marketing expert for key growth segments and applications; including:
- Understand the market segment and associated applications
- Develop segment expertise through engagement in the market
- Create and execute segment marketing strategy including integrated marketing plan (in collaboration with other parts of the organization)
- Develop & deploy marketing strategies and messages
- Brief Commercial (Sales) leadership on plans, progress, or other topics associated with the MSO segment and/or initiatives
- Understand the market segment and associated applications
- Develop segment expertise through engagement in the market
- Identify and engage with various market and industry opinion leaders to gain segment/application knowledge, information to help position Corning as the leader
Provide Sales Enablement:
- You will collaborate with sales teams and sales leadership, enabling them to develop winning strategies.
- You will test and deploy Sales Enablement tools to sales teams in support of segment
- You will evaluate financials for the value proposition against known or new market data. Ensure the value proposition remains effective. Keep sales equipped to close opportunities
- You will engage with sales teams to ensure they understand and have the tools to effectively present value. Work to make them successful with any value propositions in delivering revenue.
Collaborate on Product Marketing:
- You will take a leadership role in the commercialization of new products/solutions, driving awareness and adoption of our products.
- You will be the key point of contact and liaison with Product Line Management for key product categories.
- You can lead commercialization teams for products or solutions.
Who you are:
- You love to understand customers’ needs and work with functional experts to define value propositions and messaging for target personas.
- You have worked with large account and experience with Account Based Marketing (ABM) approaches.
- You are interested in and have experience using multiple marketing tactics inclusive of digital marketing, social, media, events, and PR to drive growth and awareness.
- You have experience with digital strategy and tactics like SEO, SEM, retargeting, programmatic media, paid and organic social media.
- You have a passion for working with commercial teams to drive opportunity creation and win deals. You can demonstrate the ability to deliver sales enablement tools and support.
- You enjoy partnering with reputation management, PR, and communication teams to develop and manage brand initiatives that establish awareness/position/loyalty.
- You like autonomy to own your budget, the strategy for your segment and can operate with minimal supervision.
- You are a creative problem solver find new and different ways to fully leverage the capabilities of a large company like Corning, Inc.
- You have the ability to travel up to 15% of your time
- You have a Bachelor's degree in a marketing or business-related area (or a technical degree with appropriate business experience)
- You may have your Master in Business Administration, MBAs would be preferred but not required.
- You have a minimum of 5 years experience in marketing
- You have a technical aptitude (ability to learn about products and solutions). You have a desire to gain knowledge in our market segment and network architecture environment.
