JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: CalWORKs Front Desk and Childcare

Classification: Full-Time; Non-Exempt (36 hours)

Reports To: Front Desk Manager and CalWORKs Administrator

Department: CalWORKs Behavioral Health Program

Position Summary: The Front Desk/Child Care position provides client/customer service and safe and responsible childcare to visiting children of MWFC clients.

Major Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions):

  • Provide developmentally appropriate, safe and responsible childcare to visiting

children of Mariposa clients.

  • Maintain childcare room in a clean, safe, and organized manner at all times.
  • Obtain written emergency contact information from clients regarding each child in the childcare center. Maintain accurate and updated files.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records of participation., provide monthly summary and reports of services to supervisor.
  • Interact professionally with parent(s) and Mariposa staff, while maintaining client confidentiality at all times.
  • Attend scheduled meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Assist with the front desk if there are no children scheduled for childcare.
  • Provide courteous telephone coverage, assess caller’s needs, efficiently respond to inquiries.
  • Warmly welcome clients/vendors when they arrive, assisting with their needs.
  • Maintain the reception and lobby, kitchen areas in tidy and attractive manner.
  • Update and maintain the Child Care Calendar, and check-in clients in electronic management system.
  • Ensure Opening and Closing procedures are carried out if opening or closing the office.
  • Perform special projects or duties as assigned by supervisor or Program Administrator.

Employee Specifications (Minimum Qualifications):

Experience/Training: Prior related experience in a childcare setting demonstrating ability to work independently is required.

Successful completion of a minimum 6 units of Child Development coursework preferred.

CPR certification upon hire.

Education/Knowledge: High school diploma or equivalent required; some college, technical or trade school education related to child development highly desired.

Skills/Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills required; demonstrated interpersonal skills also required.

Excellent people skills and ability to work with public.

Ability to stoop, bend, twist and crawl on floor with children to maintain close contact. Ability to lift up to 45 pounds (size of small children) on a regular basis.

Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment required with flexibility regarding tasks and work hours.

Demonstrate age-appropriate expectations and interventions, including effective execution of redirecting and other non-violent discipline methods.

Ability to work in a team environment, and effectively network with other agencies and individuals.

Ability to read, write and speak English required; bi-lingual skills highly desirable.

Intermediate Word and Excel skill level, highly desirable.

Special Requirements: Minimum 2 years sobriety if recovering alcoholic/drug addict.

Subject to background clearance including Live Scan
