The Manufacturing Technician for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible for fabrication and in-process inspection of highly precise flow orifices from synthetic ruby material, using a variety of specialized equipment according to predefined methods. The majority of the pieces range in diameter from 1/16 inch to 5/32 inch in diameter, average 0.002 to 0.003 inches thick, and have polished holes in them that range from 0.002 to 0.004 inches in diameter. The average human hair is about 0.003 inch in diameter as a size reference. The parts are very small, very thin, fragile, must be handled using tweezers, and are inspected under microscopes.
This position is part of the Manufacturing Department located in Nicholasville, KY and will be on-site. At Beckman Coulter, our vision is to relentlessly reimagine healthcare, one diagnosis at a time.
You will be a part of the Manufacturing Team and report to the Manager Manufacturing Engineering responsible for fabrication and in-process inspection of precision components using a variety of specialized equipment according to predefined methods.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Responsible for fabrication and in-process inspection of precision components using a variety of specialized equipment according to predefined methods.
- Documents process and inspection results and verifies compliance to existing specifications.
- May complete re-work on components as required.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- High school diploma or GED
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Mechanically inclined with good attention to detail and physical dexterity with your hands
- Patient and analytical
- Experience using Excimer lasers, lapping machines, polishing machines, and gem faceting machines.
