Background

The Manufacturing Quality Manager will be responsible for all aspects of the quality programs and functions. This position will serve as a subject matter expert in product categories, regulatory interpretation, and as the food safety and quality representative for new product/process start-up and qualification activities. Quality Assurance/Control will have to ensure that all external and internal requirements are met before our production reaches our customers. QA/QC Will support manufacturing facilities that produce company products while establishing and promoting a Quality Focused Culture. This role is responsible for inspecting procedures and outputs and identifying mistakes or non-conformity issues, devising procedures to inspect and report quality assurance issues and monitoring all operations that affect quality including supervising and guiding inspectors, technicians and other staff. The quality of our operations, services and products aiming to the long-term success of our business. QA/QC Manager will also be part of the new plant startup and create procedures and specifications to run a successful plant. This position is reports directly to the Corporate Headquarters of Arizona Beverages.

Manufacturing Quality Manager Responsibilities:

  • Represent QA/QC on Project Management teams, coordinating quality efforts with core team members
  • Devising and establishing a company's quality procedures, standards, and specifications
  • Working with purchasing staff to establish quality requirements from external suppliers
  • Setting standards for quality as well as health and safety
  • Making sure that production processes comply international and national standards
  • Defining quality procedures in conjunction with operating staff
  • Setting up and maintaining controls and documentation procedures
  • Monitoring performance by gathering relevant data and producing statistical reports
  • Making suggestions for changes and improvements and how to implement them
  • Using relevant quality tools and making sure managers and other staff understand how to improve the business
  • Supervising technical or laboratory staff
  • Develop a rapport with plant and QA managers of all company owned and co-pack facilities.
  • Utilize Six Sigma, Lean, and/or other continuous improvement concepts to improve quality, efficiency, and waste.
  • Stay current with all key regulatory and certifying agency guidelines.
  • Provide support for quality and process improvement initiatives.
  • Work closely with R&D team to troubleshoot and communicate formulation and process problems where necessary - ensure root cause and corrective actions are appropriate and are fully implemented.

Quality Assurance Requirements:

  • BS Degree in Science / Food Science / Engineering or equivalent
  • Required 8+ years previous Quality Assurance experience in food manufacturing environments with emphasis on Hot Fill Plant, Aseptic and Concentrate beverages
  • HACCP, Sanitation, Food Processing knowledge a must
  • ISO 22000, a plus
  • Experience in Product Development
  • Understanding of plant production systems, manufacturing equipment, GMP, SPC, sanitation, plant safety, GFSI (SQF, FSSC 22000), quality systems, and current food regulations (FSMA/Preventative Controls)
  • Minimum level of prior or present responsibility as Quality Assurance Supervisor / Engineer for a food manufacturing facility
  • Must be adaptable and flexible
  • Must be able to travel
  • Strong knowledge of product commercialization processes, quality and food safety systems
  • Must have technical and scientific knowledge of formulation, industrial process and equipment
  • Must be collaborative, have a technical curiosity, strong troubleshooting skills, and have leadership ability
  • Solid strategic skills and a demonstrated capacity to interface at all levels of a matrix organization
  • Excellent verbal and written communication/ presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent record keeping / documentation skills
