Reports to: Site Leader (Punta Gorda)
GENERAL PURPOSE
This position is responsible for the management of all production from assembly to shipment of the product to ensure that the factory meets its objectives for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Growth. This position will lead cross functional efforts to strategically improve the production system resulting in safe behaviors, orderly workplace, scrap reduction, defect elimination, labor productivity, burden expense reduction and flexible capacity planning. In addition, this role is hyper focused on Customer satisfaction and execution of 80/20, as well as driving KPI development and adherence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Position requirements include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by ensuring the production employees use or wear the proper safety equipment and personal protective equipment. Communicate safety policies, rules and regulations and procedures to production employees
- Leads teams in problem solving and process improvement through investigation of root cause, identification of counter measures and follow up on sustainment. Primary focus on production metrics including external quality, first pass yield and on time delivery
- Continue to improve manufacturing processes through solution-based ideation for continuous improvements and use of lean tools.
- Assess and build the leadership, team building and operational skills of the shop floor employees.
- Coordination and tracking of employee training. Mentor and coach production employees.
- Ensure consistent enforcement of company policy and deploy performance management methods as appropriate. Manage conflict resolution and disciplinary actions in accordance with internal policies and the collective bargaining agreement
- Evaluate production employees through daily production metrics including safety, quality, delivery and productivity
- Maintain and adjust production schedule by assigning employees to each value stream based on production needs and customer demand.
- Responsible for sales backlog and providing weekly, monthly and quarterly forecast updates to the finance and operations leaders
- Ensure the compliance with ISO9001 requirements are maintained and conformance to the quality policy and standards are met
- Coordinates rapid improvement events with emphasis on lean principles that include standard work, one-piece flow, visual management and 6S. Collaborate with CI Leader for the Rochester site to drive and implement culture of continuous improvement
- Evaluate production requirements including headcount through workforce planning and capacity analysis
- Listen to and respond appropriately to employee concerns in a timely fashion to ensure Employee Engagement.
- Role model behaviors consistent with the espoused culture: Integrity, Respect, Accountability and Balance.
- Motivate and coach Employees to meet departmental objectives and to ensure Employee Engagement
- Conduct Employee 1:1s
- Manage Employee attendance and approve timecards
- Daily opening and closing of the facility.
- Required to participate in rotating weekend overtime.
- Participate in cross functional meetings or projects as necessary to ensure that production capacity and capability is in place for new product launches and/or product changes.
- Participate in cross functional efforts as assigned designed to reduce operating expenses and reinvest profits for growth initiatives.
- Responsible for production P&L including overtime, production tools, scrap, and indirect material
- Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- 3 years of direct manufacturing supervisory experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in a business or technical related field preferred
- Experience in a low-volume, high-mix, engineered-to-order manufacturing environment
- Experience with manufacturing and lean tools including
- FMEA, Corrective Action Process, RCCM, PDCA, Standard Work, 6S, Visual Management, Daily Management
- Experience with ISO9001 certification
- Physical Demands
- Lifting requirements are generally less than 25 lbs. Lifting could occasionally reach the company maximum of 40 lbs.
- Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
- Willing to work with processes and systems that are evolving and subject to change
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong orientation toward continuous improvement – Lean/Six Sigma
