HTI is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer for a growing company in Summerville, SC. Pay is $85,000 - $90,000, Comprehensive Benefit Package Provided, and Relocation Assistance is offered.
Must have:
- Experience working in a very automated, automotive environment.
- Experience with Robotics (i.e. Fanuc Preferred).
Job Summary:
Responsible for the manufacturing processes of components, sub-assemblies and finished product for a designated manufacturing area. Focus on achieving key product indicators including safety, cost, quality and delivery. Manage continuous improvement projects and determine root cause of production issues. Work is of the technical nature where independent judgment is used and decisions are made within the limits of general practice policies. Works with minimal supervision.
Essential Functions:
- Review and analyze safety, operational, quality and maintenance reports to identify areas for improvement
- Evaluate equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, cost and safety
- Specifies tools, work holding, equipment and processes to produce a part, or evaluate processes in assigned areas
- Develop and maintain manufacturing Process Flow Diagrams and PFMEA plans
- Create and maintain manufacturing process documentation e.g. work instructions and training guidelines
- Define standard work for all processes in area of responsibility
- Implement lean manufacturing practices such as 5S, Kanban, poke-yoke, visual management, single-piece flow
- Utilize structured problem solving tools e.g. A3, 5Y, 8D, Ishikawa, PDCA, Six Sigma DMAIC, Shainin, etc.
- Work within cross functional teams to support all aspects of manufacturing
- Support plant-wide commitment to meet all International Standards ISO/TS16949, ISO 14001, VDA 6.3/6.5, etc.
- Develop and maintain programs, parameters and recipes for existing and new products and processes
- Analyze product variation and implement process capability improvements
- Performs special projects as required
Education:
- College graduate with BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering preferred or AS degree in an Engineering discipline with relevant work experience.
Experience:
- Knowledge and understanding of machining and/or assembly processes
- Knowledge of materials and methods of manufacturing
- 3-5 years of experience in an automated or semi-automated manufacturing environment
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics and pneumatic diagrams
- Knowledge of electro-mechanical systems
Specific Skills:
- High level of analytical ability where problems are complex
- Understanding of manufacturing processes
- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Ability to interpret mechanical, electrical and pneumatic drawings with a working knowledge of GD&T
Desired Education/Skills/Experience:
- Familiarity with Tier I and/or Tier II automotive supplier specifications
- Experience with PLC logic, vision, force/distance control and monitoring, torque and marking systems
- Familiarity with broaching, cutting tools, turning, milling, robotics, automation, assembly, friction welding, balancing and/or induction hardening/tempering, including coil design
- Experience with CQI-9
- Ability to read, write or speak German
- Experience with programming and troubleshooting CNC G-code and related controls and/or PLC (Siemens preferred)
