A Manufacturing Assembly Technician is responsible for the successful execution of the assembly of Spear’s products, including production units, engineering concepts and prototypes. This position takes day-to-day direction from the Lead Manufacturing Assembly Technician and Manufacturing Manager.

Spear Power Systems develops next generation scalable lithium-ion battery storage systems for demanding land, sea and air applications. Spear Power Systems’ energy storage systems are cell-agnostic and include proprietary battery management and monitoring for all lithium-ion chemistries from multiple battery suppliers offering high energy density, modular architecture, light weight, and extreme safety and reliability.
    • Assemble components and systems with little to no work instructions, drawings/schematics, or models.
    • Work in an environment where work product may be a prototype item with no blueprints, illustrations or concept for assembly. Develops assembly concept based upon knowledge, skills and experience – documents processes and procedures.
    • Routinely work within multiple production/assembly environments (multiple product types) often assigned more than one work product to support.
    • Deemed an expert at using measuring instruments, layout tools, hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.
    • Draft work instructions sufficient to demonstrate quality, safety and attainment of work objectives.
    • Test products or subassemblies for functionality and quality – often challenged to draft test procedures/approaches in compliance with safe testing policy and while considering available resources and product objectives.
    • Troubleshoot problems with equipment, devices or products.
    • Assist engineers in developing, building or testing prototypes or new products offerings.
    • Document actions by completing production and quality forms.
    • Follow safety rules and regulations.
    • Assist business development in expanding product offerings.
    • Special projects as assigned to support business requirements in the organization or to promote personal growth.
    • Execute other duties as assigned by management.
      Mandatory Requirements:
      • Candidates must be ITAR Compliant
      • Because this position requires potential access to technology controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the successful candidate must be a "U.S. person" as defined in the ITAR and EAR.
      • In order to be a U.S. person for ITAR and EAR purposes, you must: (i) be a citizen or national of the United States; or (ii) be a lawful permanent resident (i.e., "green card holder") of the United States; or (iii) have been admitted to the United States as a refugee, or have been granted asylum, provided that you have applied for naturalization within six months of the date you first became eligible, and if not yet accepted, you are actively pursuing naturalization after two years from the date of your application
      • Possess strong organizational skills, a positive attitude and the ability to work well as a team.
      • Ability to read, follow and comprehend written instructions, as well as comprehend verbal instructions and effectively communicate verbally in English.
      • Ability to learn, read and understand engineering part drawings and specifications.
      • Knowledge of basic safety rules and precautionary measures.
      • Attention to detail to identify defects or issues.
      • Computer literacy and familiarity.
      • Ability to self-start while following direction as instructed.
      • Ability to move and lift up to 25 pounds. Ability to sit or stand as required to perform essential functions.
      • Consistent and punctual attendance required. Must be available to work assigned shifts and overtime as required.
      Preferred Qualifications:
      • High school diploma or equivalent required
      • Technical certificate or equivalent experience or education preferred.
      • 1 or more years' experience working in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
      • Strong electrical or electronics aptitude or experience.
      • Experience with welding, soldering, wiring or connectorizing components.
