Manual Machine Technician -- Elk Grove Village, IL Job at Hausner Hard Chrome
**Compensation is commensurate with experience**
We are seeking an experienced machinist/grinder for our Elk Grove Village plant.
The ideal candidate will perform the following tasks:
- Conduct milling, cutting, turning, grinding, and polishing operations that meet specified tolerances while using horizontal saws and sharpening tools as necessary
- Operate various equipment safely and effectively, including fork trucks, pallet jacks, overhead cranes, manual lathes, welders, manual grinders, magna-flux, and polishing tools, as well as manual, air, and power hand tools
- Prepare, clean, and polish parts prior to and after machining and polishing processes
- Balance, sandblast, and weld components as assigned
- Ensure that all parts are transferred to the next step in the process in a timely manner
- Calibrate inspection equipment and set up machinery as needed
- Have a basic understanding of plating and quality control
- Be able to read blueprints and use precise measuring devices like micrometers and calipers
- Report equipment maintenance issues to supervisors immediately
- Perform minor maintenance and repairs on tools, equipment, and machinery, both planned and unplanned
- Operate plant equipment effectively and independently, making sound judgments in the best interests of HHC and our customers
- Utilize proper measurement techniques and equipment in carrying out job duties
- Follow all EHS rules, company policies, and inspection procedures
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Proficiency in machine setups for production runs
- Ability to read blueprints accurately
- Excellent communication skills
- A strong grasp of shop math
