We are currently seeking a Data Scientist for a Manager level role for our Data Sciences Practice in Los Angeles, CA.

You will be responsible for:

• Providing data science, data system design, and product development consulting services to problems involving civil infrastructure, including model development, data analysis, and visualization
• Providing expertise in one or more of the following areas:
  • Reliability engineering
  • Quality engineering
  • Machine learning
  • Operations optimization
  • Data engineering
  • Data science
  • Product design
• Developing business by attracting work from external clients within the first year after hire
• Recruiting and mentoring junior members of consulting staff
• Leveraging your existing professional network and Exponent’s capabilities to generate new business leads and offer enhanced value to the firm’s current clients

You will have the following skills and qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Statistics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering/scientific field (such as Applied Mathematics, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Applied Physics) and at least five to seven years of related professional experience
• Proven track record as a successful technical consultant and strategic advisor
• Proven record of business generation and success in securing contracts or funding
• Demonstrated leadership and project management skills
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
• A strong record of professional contributions as evidenced by publications or related activities
• Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams

Compensation

Our consultants are rewarded for their technical and business contributions and have an opportunity to plan for future success and career growth. Exponent's total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent. At the Manager level total compensation includes base salary, annual bonus, and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.

The base salary range for this position is $135,000 - $210,000 depending on experience and capabilities which will be assessed during the interview process.
