Your Opportunity
In this role you will be encouraged to share your diverse thoughts and ideas to support co-packer compliance, systems management while ensuring Food Safety is paramount and will be empowered to bring those ideas to life. Your primary responsibilities will include:

Specification management to include specification development for contract manufactured products (weight control, allergen labeling, microbiological standards and other key attributes for co-manufacturers and suppliers to provide a food safe product for consumers)

Analyze quality data trends including consumer and customer complaint data and provide regular reporting and conduct complaint investigation.

Act as main liaison between Corporate QA and the Liquid Coffee Venture Team.

Assure the manufacturing facilities are in compliance with JMS Quality & Food Safety standards, FSMA Preventative Controls, Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and any other applicable certifications.

Manage regulatory certification programs for contract manufactured products.

As a JMS Qualified auditor, lead QA audit team at co-manufacturing, warehouse, and supplier audits as needed, including summarize audit findings and ensuring completion of corrective actions.

Ensure compliance and improvements to approval process for qualification of new co-manufacturing locations and suppliers.

Manage quality and food safety expectations for new and existing supply chain which includes, but is not limited to, audit corrective action follow-up, facilitating discussion between Smucker and supplier when quality/food safety issues require mitigation, supporting internal raw material sampling and testing protocol and data analysis, etc.

Manage finished product retain and testing programs for contract manufactured products.

Monitor compliance to Smucker specifications through COA, product data analysis and applicable product testing.

Develop and maintain relationships with key co-manufacturers and suppliers to address issues more effectively.

Ensure materials used in JMS products are in compliance with supplier and raw material policies.

Ensure JMS-approved CQV and product release protocols are in place and followed at contract manufacturing partners.

Represent Quality Assurance & Food Safety on project teams and technical teams.

Manage product non-conformance program.

What we are looking for:

Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology or related scientific degree is required

Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing environment is required
-
Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience QA/Food Safety is required
-
Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (human or animal food) required
-
Working knowledge of FDA Regulations, including cGMPs and PCQI required
-
Experience with GFSI certifications preferred
-
Beverage thermal processing experience preferred
-
Dairy beverage experience preferred
-
LACF beverage experience preferred (aseptic, acidified, retort)
-
Quality/Food Safety auditor experience required
-
External supplier or co-manufacturing relationship management experience
-
Better Process Control School certification
-
High level of organizational skills
-
Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Spotfire).

Strong written and verbal communication skills
-
Strong ability to work in cross-functional and team-oriented environment with multiple disciplines
-
Proven capability in project management with ability to lead several complex projects concurrently
-
Detail and process oriented with strong problem resolution abilities
-
Adaptable and flexible to changing business needs
-
Experience working in QA systems such as Prodika, TraceGains, and ETQ
-
Willingness to travel up to 40%
