Position Overview

The Manager/Operational Quality Assurance directs and manages the operational quality assurance department and is responsible for defining, developing, and directing operational quality assurance activities which include systematically and periodically examining, surveying, and sampling the Company’s operational procedures, practices, plans, policies, standards, field installation and documentation in order to identify and correct deficiencies. This position, in cooperation with corporate staff and division management, will recommend corrective/preventive action, best practices and improvement opportunities with follow up to assure that any operational quality deficiencies have been remedied.

Position Dimensions

Reporting directly to this position are up to six exempt employees and up to one non-exempt employee. This position reports to the Vice President of Engineering Staff. This position frequently exchanges information with senior management, functional vice presidents, general managers, directors, senior managers, and managers in various departments within the Company. Outside the Company, the incumbent has frequent contact with vendors, government officials, contractors and other utility management and quality assurance personnel.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Direct, manage and coordinate the Staff activities that promulgate the policies, procedures, plans and standards for Operational Quality Assurance
  • Establish, review, and approve the operating budgets, standards, procedures, and salary changes for Operational Quality Assurance
  • Execute short and long-range planning and work process reviews to accomplish the approved goals of the department and the Company
  • Mold future operational quality assurance processes through new methods and technology
  • Make recommendations to senior management for changes to business processes, procedures, standards, and training to support operational quality
  • Facilitate the Company’s Corrective/Preventive Action program
  • Serve as liaison between the Operating Divisions, Staff, and senior management regarding operational quality assurance issues
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities, as assigned
  • Regular and predictable attendance is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job

Qualifications

There are clear precedents and practices that the incumbent uses as guidelines to determine how this job is performed. This position requires eight to ten years of relevant experience in Quality Assurance or the utility industry. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university is preferred. A Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence certification is preferred or must successfully be attained and maintained after accepting position.

Salary Details

$100,766 - $125,957
