THE OPPORTUNITY
Fisher Phillips is a national labor and employment law firm, and we are looking for a talented Manager of General Accounting to lead our department and support the needs of the firm at a national level. This position can be performed hybrid/remote from any of our 37 offices, but will be based out of the Atlanta office. In this role, The Manager of General Accounting will plan and direct the accounting activities of the department and be responsible for supervising 2 Accountants and 4 Clerical staff who are responsible for financial reporting, billing, collections, payroll, budget operation and conducts performance evaluations. Although this position is a hybrid/remote position, you would generally need to be available to work during standard business hours.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
General Ledger Function
- Generate financial statements for Firm and all subsidiaries.
- Oversee and coordinate month-end close to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.
- Process month-end close, which consists of changing all system dates and generating prebills while coordinating with Information Technologies.
- Upload payroll information into General Ledger.
- Book all intercompany transactions between Firm and subsidiaries.
- Ensure all time has been released prior to the month-end process.
- Record Capital Contributions
- Record and balance accruals
- General ledger year-end close
- Record year-end entries accruing partner final distributions and bonus pool.
- Year end audit coordination with PwC and production of financial package.
- Review account reconciliations.
- Run SQL reports as needed for reconciliations.
- Review and approve all major expenses, including rents, Trust checks, major medical funding, and client disbursements.
Treasury Function
- Bank authority to transfer cash as needed and set up electronic payments.
- Truist Credit Card administrator. Cancel and issue credit cards as needed. Increase credit limits and add proxy as needed.
- ACH security: debit approvals or rejections.
- Positive pay reviews.
Financial System/Security
- Responsible for setup of employees, offices, profit centers, departments, GL accounts, banks, reports, financial statement templates and other items as required.
- Maintain Aderant system integrity. Correct system out of balances or coordinate with Aderant to have system corrections.
- Year-end coordination of Aderant title changes – clerks to associates, associates to partner, partner to equity partner.
- Review all new employee setups.
- Grant the appropriate access to the various accounting and time keeping systems.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred
- CPA required
- Supervisor experience preferred
- Intercompany accounting knowledge required
- Aderant or Elite 3 experience preferred
- QuickBooks knowledge preferred
- Law Firm experience, a plus

The salary range for this position is $125,000 - $135,000. Actual base pay within this range will be determined by several components, including but not limited to, relevant experience, internal equity, skills, qualifications, job location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
