Manager, Inclusion & Diversity

Position Summary:

Gypsum Management and Supply, Inc.is seeking a highly skilled, experienced Manager, Inclusion and Diversity (I&D) to join our organization. This position will report to the Director, Talent Management, Inclusion & Diversity and will be a key member of the Human Resources team serving as the diversity, and inclusion expert.

The Manager, I&D will play a critical role in helping to shape and sustain efforts that advance a diverse and inclusive culture across GMS. This role will function as a change leader, creating strong partnerships with the business and HR leadership, internal and external partners, and team members, to drive greater inclusion, talent attraction and workforce engagement. This role is also responsible for overseeing the implementation and execution of culturally, socially, and ethnically inclusive programs that effectively educate our employees to advance our I&D strategy and culture.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Researches, develops, recommends, and executes creative strategies to foster the organization's diversity goals.
  • Assists in the establishment of I&D goals and develops and executes action plans to move the I&D strategy forward.
  • Provides subject matter expertise in the areas of diversity and inclusion through the employee lifecycle and works cross-functionally across the organization.
  • Partners with HR and leaders to embed I&D improvements across the organization to support the implementation of the company’s I&D strategy.
  • Acts as a change leader, creating strong partnerships with business and HR leadership, internal and external partners, and employees, to drive greater inclusion, talent attraction and workforce engagement.
  • Reviews current practices and policies, assessing and analyzing the extent to which they support or hinder the company’s diversity goals.
  • Collects and analyzes statistical data to evaluate the company’s population in accordance with diversity standards and goals.
  • Collaborates with Talent Acquisition to develop and implement recruiting and hiring strategies to attract employees from diverse backgrounds.
  • Partners with internal communications and marketing to implement a strategic branding and communication plan to support the I&D strategy.
  • Leads efforts to drive awareness and education across all employees, such as listening sessions, courageous conversations, and training initiatives.
  • Manages programs for the organization such as the Ready Now Talent program, mentoring circles, I&D Speaker Series, and Pathbuilders Program.
  • Owns cultural heritage months and inclusion milestone programming, events, and engagement.
  • Determines need for Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and provides direction and help to define and execute their work plan.
  • Conducts ongoing research on best practices and benchmarks to recommend strategies for continuous improvement and progress across I&D efforts.
  • Works in partnership with Legal and Human Resources to ensure internal policies and practices foster equity, support inclusiveness, and achieve a discrimination and harassment free work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Communications, Marketing, Business Strategy/Management, Public Relations
  • 10+ years’ business experience, preferably in I&D, HR, Talent, Leadership Development, or related experiences
  • Strong business acumen; can understand business needs, priorities, and challenges
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and accommodate deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strategic and creative thinking with ability to translate abstract ideas into tactical concepts and effectively implement them
