Responsibilities

Under general supervision, is responsible for technical and administrative operations of all lab sections at the MercyOne Siouxland Clinical Laboratory including Hematology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Special Chemistry and Immunohematology. In collaboration with the Director Lab Services and Pathologists, maintains oversight of the operation of the MercyOne Siouxland Laboratory including patient testing, timely reporting of results, quality control/standards, policies/procedures, performance improvement, scheduling, staff development, equipment, supplies and student education/training, developing/managing budgets, maximizing efficiency, clinic client satisfaction, courier service/specimen transport, growth and maintenance of outreach services, minimizing resource utilization, and fiscal responsibility.

Requirements:

• Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist (MLS/MT) American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
• At least five years’ experience in bench level laboratory work in blood bank, chemistry, immunochemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, and limited microbiology.
• At least three years’ experience in laboratory leadership in the form of (either) Laboratory Manager in a CAH
• Section leader/supervisor over subsection of the lab such as core lab, chemistry, etc.
• Laboratory Quality Manager
• Possibly Physician Office Laboratory Manager at not less than moderately complex level
• Experience (ideally participant as part of inspection team) with College of American Pathologists and/or TJC CAMLAB
• Demonstrated communication skills to include written and verbal
• Functional knowledge of laboratory information systems to include report development, data analysis and project work (such as upgrades)
• Working knowledge of laboratory instrumentation acquisition methods such as capital purchase, capital lease, CPR/CPT, and operating lease.
• Solid experience with laboratory quality metrics such as QC, QA, PT and PI.
• Volumes as reported to CAP approximately 450,000.
