The Manager’s responsibilities will be categorized into the following areas: · Event financial support across all MSG venues (MSG Sphere, MSG Arena, Theater at MSG, Radio City Music Hall, Beacon Theatre and Chicago Theatre) and event types (e.g. Concerts, Family Attractions, Special Events) including event offers, settlements, and financial outlook · Special projects including but not limited to annual budgets and quarterly forecasts, rate card analysis, venue standards, and competitive analysis

What will you do?
Event Financial Support (90%)
- The Manager prepares labor & cost estimates for various events across all MSG owned and operated venues, inclusive of rate card rent for use by MSG Live Booking department executives to negotiate deals with clients. The Manager will be proficient and well versed in all types of events including concerts, family attractions, performing arts, and special events, as well as all types of deals including rentals, co-promotions, and self-promotions.
- The Manager is responsible for tracking event costs, reviewing contracts, conducting settlements with promoters and/or artist representatives at the night of the event, preparing P&L statements, compiling post event estimates, and reviewing the monthly reconciliation to general ledger. The Manager is also responsible for maintaining event files.
- The Manager will develop financial and operational expertise across MSG’s Venues related to labor and non-labor expenses. This will include understanding and summarizing all union agreements, work rules and applicable rate cards. The Manager will be used as a resource by the Bookers and other Finance Staff.
Special Projects (10%)
- The Manager shall provide primary analytical support to critical special projects as assigned (e.g. annual budgets and quarterly forecasts, rate card analysis, venue standards, and competitive analysis, etc.). This will include projects and reporting that cross divisions, requiring the Manager to maintain positive working relationships across the company.
Decision Making
- Approval of certain financial transactions and commitments per MSG’s Commitment Authorization policy in conjunction with Line of Business employees. Generally, a Manager would have a limit of $25k but specific limits vary based on type of commitment / expenditure.
- Preparation and signing event settlements in conjunction with Event Bookers primarily at MSG Theaters. Settlements with outside promoters, artists, or producers regularly represent transactions that exceed hundreds of thousands of dollars.
What do you need to succeed?
- BS, BA or related degree in accounting or finance or equivalent work experience
- Strong financial modeling skills in Excel and in depth understanding of financial systems desired but not required
- Experience in Oracle and other ERP systems desired but not required
- 5-7 years of work experience ideally within the live entertainment industry preferred
- Experience in a union environment and dealing with multiple collective bargaining agreements preferred
- Willingness and desire to work nights and weekends when assigned events
